Evenings were quite lonely without a certain Yaksha Adeptus.
Currently Xiao was out finishing up with corrupted enemies, leaving you at the inn. He'd come back soon though.
Currently you were on the rooftop at the inn, admiring the view like Xiao does. The mountains making the sunset look ever more beautiful.
Maybe this sunset would look ever more beautiful if Xiao were to accompany me.
A voice pulled Y/n out of their thoughts. "Y/n, I'm back now." Called Xiao's voice.
Y/n turned around to face the boy. "Hey Xiao" they said, a small smile creeping up on their face.
Xiao stepped closer, pulling them into a hug. You hugged back of course. "Xiao is everything okay?"
Xiao pulled away and answered "yes, everything is okay."
"Then how about I make you some Almond Tofu, you've been gone for quite a while."
"Hm alright."
Y/n walked down the stairs to the kitchen, Xiao followed close behind. Asking if they could use the kitchen for a while, the chef agreed and so Y/n began making the tofu.
Xiao sat down at one of the tables, watching y/n as they cooked. The tofu cooked as they cut up some Almonds into fine pieces. "Y/n" Xiao called out. "Yes Xiao?"
"Normally my karmic debt is quite strong yet when I'm with you...it gets quiet and well..peaceful. I don't know why that is though its strange."
"That is strange yet I'm glad your pain is going away when you're with me."
Xiao got up from the table and made his way towards you. "Uh Xiao-"
Xiao held your hands, guiding your cuts on the tofu. Your face heat up at the sudden touch. "You were cutting it wrong." Was his simple response. His face dusted with blush.
He let go of y/n's hands once the tofu was cut up well enough. He grabbed two plates, one for you and one for himself.
Y/n put the Almond Tofu onto the two plates, sprinkling a few extra Almonds on top. Xiao took his plate and sat down, begining to eat.
Y/n grabbed their plate and sat across from Xiao. Xiao watched them as they sat and ate. "Why aren't you eating Xiao?" You asked. "Oh, I'm just used to eating alone is all but I'll make an exception for you I suppose." He replied and ate his fill.
He looked back up at you, "you have some on your face." You cleaned it off but "wrong side idiot." He leaned over, wiping it off with his finger. He looked away, flustered at his own actions. You to were caught off guard, causing blush to dust onto your cheeks.
"Ah- um thanks." "Mhm." Xiao stood up, putting his plate into the sink. You followed, cleaning up the mess you made while cooking so the chef wouldn't be upset. Xiao though he didn't seem interested in cleaning duty, he helped you.
"Thank you for helping Xiao." You said, giving him a small smile.
"Of course y/n. You better go get some sleep now. I don't want you to be tired tomorrow."
"Hm alright then but but means you have to sleep aswell."
"You think I sleep?"
"Everyone needs some every now and then Xiao."
"I don't need sleep."
"Yes you do." Y/n grabbed Xiao's wrist, dragging him up stairs and into their room. Verr watched closely as the pair ran well one ran while the other dragged into the room. "Sigh, Xiao is probably gonna start boasting about y/n in the morning I bet. I'm just glad he's out of his shell around them."

"Y/n-"
"Shush we'll just share the bed."
Xiao's face dusted with red as he cleared his throat. "Fine."
Y/n got under the covers, signaling Xiao to join them. Xiao removed his boots, climbing under the covers with them.
"Goodnight Xiao."
"Goodnight y/n."
Y/n turned the light off, drifting to sleep.
《Xiao pov》
I watched as y/n fell asleep, and when they did I carefully moved closer to them. Hesitantly and slowly I wrapped my arm around their waist.
Maybe me falling in love with a mortal wasn'tsuch a bad thing.
I drifted off to sleep for the first time in hundreds of years.
