Classic Apple Crumble

Crumble:

-250 mL (1 cup) all-purpose flour

-125 mL (1/2 cup) refined cane sugar

-125 mL (1/2 cup) cold salted butter, cubed

Fruit:

-1.5 kg (3 lb 5 oz) apples

Instructions:

1. Preheat the oven to 180 C (350 F). Put the flour, sugar and butter into a bowl. Rub the butter into the other ingredients rapidly with your fingertips until the mixture resembles breadcrumbs. Chill.

2. Peel the apples, quarter them and remove the pips. Cut each quarter in threes.

3. Arrange the chunks of apple in a gratin dish and sprinkle the crumble. Bake in the oven for approximately 45 minutes, until the crumble is golden. 

Ideal serving temperature: Warm

Serve with double (heavy) cream
