Chapter 7: faking it

"Y/n Y/n Y/n Y/n Y/n" you're shaken awake by Hunter.

Looks like you're back to this again.

You swat him away. "What what what what what?" You angrily ask.

"Sorry for shaking you awake but there will be hexside students here in less than an hour for a tour of the coven. It would be best if we continued pretending to be transfer students once they get here." He explains.

"Oh. Ok." You shrug, lying back down.

"Wh- what are you doing?" He asks flatly, taking off his mask.

"I don't have to pretend to be a transfer student if I never leave my room." You say.

"Nope. You need to wake up. I read about curses and being lazy doesn't help them." Hunter grabs your arms and pulls you out of bed.

You flop onto the floor and he stands over you.

"Up."

"Nah I'm good down here. Floors comfy too." You smile, closing your eyes again.

He groans and drops your cloak over you.

"Oh a blanket! How kind of you!" You smirk.

"That's not what I-" he picks you up and sets you down upright.

Your face goes slightly red.

"Now stay up." He demands.

You roll your eyes but give up. "Fine."

"Good." He smiles and pats you on the head.

Your face goes slightly red but you just ignore it.

Hunter looks at you for a moment before quickly covering his face and turning away.

"I'll be waiting outside your door." He mumbles as he quickly leaves the room.

You raise an eyebrow but shrug it off and get dressed, filling another vile with elixir and wearing it as a necklace. You quickly drink a bottle of elixir and sigh, walking out the door.

Hunter looks up at you and waves.

"Good to see you're up and participating in life now!" He hums.

"I'd rather sleep." You say.

"Mhm too bad." He pats you on the back and you both start walking down the halls.

The two of you eventually spot the group of students and run up to them.

"Sorry we're late ma'am." You apologize to Kikimora.

"It's alright, but if you ever want a chance in the emperor's coven you will be on time." She says.

You and Hunter sneak to the back of the group over by Luz, Willow, and Gus.

"Y/n! Did Bump say you can do this too?" She asks.

You nod.

"Who's this?" Willow asks, pointing at Hunter.

"He's Y/n's boyfriend! I met him at Grom!" Luz exclaims.

Your face goes red and you look down.

"The Names..." he hesitates for a moment. "Goldie. Or at least that's my nickname." He says.

"Yeah, Goldie here is such a huge fan of The Golden Guard. It's honestly kind of embarrassing to be seen around him sometimes." You tease, leaning against him.

He nudges you away and you chuckle.

"I don't think we're gonna meet him today but you might meet other coven members!" Willow says.
