Chapter 29: Labyrinth runners

The boat reaches shore and you all start to get off.

"Y/n... seriously. Be careful. What if this is a trap?" Luz asks.

"I'll be fine. I've been working on improving my Illusion magic! If there are scouts, poof! I can look like em!" You wave your finger, casting an illusion to make you look like a scout.

You take it off and smile.

"Plus Gus, Willow, and Amity will be there for sure, right? I'll be fine." You reassure her.

She nods and you head off.

As you approach Hexside, you spot a group of scouts using illusion magic to turn invisible.

Oh boy.

This cant be good.

Your illusion magic is pretty rusty, but maybe you can do two illusions at once?

You cover yourself with an illusion to look like a coven scout then turn yourself invisible, following the others into hexsides gym.

You all line up on the bleachers as students head inside.

No sight of Hunter but you should at least make sure this whole thing is taken care of first.

"Uh, students, teachers, let me introduce the esteemed-" bump begins but is cut off by the hooded figure beside him.

"Please, principal Bump. I deserve no accolades. Hello everyone, my name is Adrian Graye. Head witch of illusionist coven." The figure takes off his hood.

Yeah, whatever he's here for isn't good. You knew him back at the coven. He was always trying to turn things info a performance. You wouldn't be surprised if that wasn't even him up there.

"Unfortunately, im not here with good news. The emperors coven has plans to stop multitrack studies by inducting every Hexside student into a coven before the day of unity." Graye explains.

The crowd gasps.

"Dont worry! No ones magic is going to be sealed away! Head witch Graye supports us and has come to help!" Bump reassures everyone.

"Before any coven scouts come by, im going to make illusions of Sigils on your wrists. They'll be temporary and harmless." Graye says as Edric is taken on stage towards him.

Graye prepares the spell to make a fake sigil.

Okay, maybe this is where you step in.

You're about to do a spell to stop him when someone yells.

"Stop!"

The crowd parts to reveal Gus.

"Don't trust him! He's hiding behind an illusion!" Gus preforms a spell, knocking the illusion off Graye and revealing a normal coven scout.

"Cut! Just... mm, just cut!" Graye's voice echos around you.

The invisibility spell is removed from the other scouts so you quickly remove yours, being carful to keep the coven scout illusion on.

Graye appears, sitting on a directors chair.

"Alright, couple of notes! Tom, that Adrian illusion was lacking a certain... hmm? You get me?" Graye walks around the scouts.

The scout shrugs.

"Severine, that was really!....poor work. You're on thin ice."

"Captain, your read of the past line was just a little... mm." Graye hums.

"I don't know what that means." The scout says.

"You'll figure it out. And Y/n! Impressive work! Your act was rather convincing! Ha, who am I kidding, no it wasn't." Graye waves his finger, dropping your illusion.
