Chapter Thirty-Three, Gathering Witnesses
Almost immediately everyone started to leave to gather the needed witnesses. Later that very day Emmett, Rosalie and Bree left to gather witnesses as well as Carlisle and Esme leaving that very night, however, Alice and Iris had left with no further explanation then when to expect the Volturi. It had shocked everyone to their very core that they would leave them when they were needed most, but Valerie liked to hold to the notion that there was a very good reason for them leaving and she was sticking to it no matter what anyone said. The following day Jasper and Valerie were taking the kids to the Denali's to see if they would help as it was their sister who had betrayed them. Peter and Char were on their way; so they at least had two witnesses who believed them without question, and believed them without seeing the twins or reading the Legends. Peter and Char just trusted Jasper and Valerie and trusted within Peter's gift.
Luckily, Cameron and Aubrey's growth rate had slowed down quite a bit with their wolf side and we're much younger than a human-vampire child would be at this stage as they still looked only four years old. Thankfully the impala still held all of them with Jasper and Valorie in the front and the three kids in the back. As they were travelling to Alaska, Jasper made sure Valerie and their kids were wearing clothes that would keep them warm, for despite being Hybrids he didn't want his wife or any of his children to get sick. Feeling the worry that was surging around his wife like a tornado, Jasper reached over and pulled her closer, tucking her into his side and holding her close as he drove. Both of them were hoping everything will work out fine and that all of their family comes out in one piece; Valerie knew that Alice had seen what happens if they refuse to listen.
Alice had left a secret message for Valerie, and her alone. Leaving everyone else to think that Alice and Iris had just taken off, but Valerie knew the real reason. It's what she whispered to Valerie the day everything turned sour. She and Iris were going to Brazil, and had made a phone call to Mr Jenkins to place an order that Valerie would need to collect soon. Valerie couldn't even tell Jasper as only her mind couldn't be read. He knew that Valerie had a back up plan to keep all of their children safe though, and he knew they were safe as long as he didn't know the details and was happy with that. He really was an amazing father and husband. "You okay darlin'?" Jasper asked resting a hand on Valerie's thigh as he drove them towards the Denali's, the kids were asleep in the back.
