Laying back down on my towel, I let out a small satisfied smile. I knew I would not be going skinny dipping today. Before I can even relax, I feel hands slide under me and I'm lifted before I can let out a word. My eyes snap open to see the one and only Jaxon Black  carrying me. Letting out a curse, I try to struggle out of his arms but he's too strong and apparently my resistance amuses him as his lips twitch up into a smirk. When he doesn't look down at me, I grab his face  and turn it towards me and ask,

"What do you think you're doing?" Jaxon's smirks remains on his face and he continues walking as he replies.

"You may not be going skinny dipping today but that does not mean you're not going swimming." My eyes widen and I try to struggle thinking he will throw me inside the water, but instead of throwing me, Jaxon walks into the lake with me in his arms until he's chest deep into the water, which obviously means the water is deeper than my entire body. Jaxon drops one of the arms that was under me and a shriek escapes my mouth while my nails dig into Jaxon's shoulder as I try to hold on to him to prevent myself from falling. Looking up, I notice Jaxon trying to repress a smile.

"You're such an ass!" I exclaim just as he lets go of me fully and I'm dipped into the warm water. My other arms grabs his arms to keep myself up. My feet try to find ground but its too far and I clutch onto him more.

"You're gonna stop my circulation, Cyn," Jaxon chuckles and tries prying my hands off him but I don't let go. "It's okay, just swim." He adds as if its the easiest thing in the world. Thankfully, Blake comes to my rescue and grabs me around my waist.

"She would...if she knew how to." He replies to Jaxon and then throws one of his charming smiles at me before leading me to shallow grounds. Letting out a sigh as I rest my feet on the wet sand, I thank Blake and turn to face Jaxon but he's too focused on Blake for some reason. My eyes trail to where he's looking and I notice that he's staring at Blakes arm around my waist. For some reason, that causes me to step out of Blakes arm but he tightens it, making it hard for me to leave. A smirk is on Blakes face as he and Jaxon have a staring contest. My eyes twitch in irritation as I forcefully remove Blakes hand off and face both of them.

"Is everything okay here?" Blakes smirk stays on his face when he turns to me and nods his head but Jaxon continues staring holes into Blakes head for a minute before quietly replying,

"Yes of course,  why wouldn't it be?"

Throwing on my black tank on top of my bikini, I start making my way to the board walk. Footsteps sound behind me and a hand falls on my shoulder.

"Where we going bestie?" His breath tickles my ear. Letting out a tiny laugh, I shrug his arm off my shoulder and push him away.

"I am going to go check out the stores here while you are going back to the beach, bestie." Jaxon rolls his eyes but decides but continues to walk next to me as I step into the beach gift shop. "Or not I guess." My fingers trail across the shelf but nothing really catches my eye. There's a keychain with a tiny wave on it that I find cute, holding it in my hand, I continue searching for other things when I notice Jaxon standing in front of one of the aisles holding a Hawaiian bead bracelet in his hand. "You gonna buy that?" Jaxon's head snaps up towards me and he slightly shakes his head.

"No, no, I was just remembering something." He places the bracelet back on its stand and steps back.

"Remembering what?" I ask softly. For a minute I think he will shut me out and leave the question unanswered but Jaxon sighs and quietly replies,

"When I was younger, back when everyone was healthy, my mom bought my father and I identical bracelets like these. I lost it a long time ago...now I wish I kept it safe." Grabbing his hand, I give it a tight squeeze but that seems to bring him back to reality and he slightly shakes his head and smiles. "Are you buying anything or should we leave?"

"I'll go to the checkout for this, you wait for me outside." I lift my hand to show the key chain. Jaxon nods his head, glances once more at the bracelets yearningly and then walks out. Once he's out of sight, I grab two of the bracelets and buy my items before leaving too. Jaxon's waiting for me outside lost in thought and I have to nudge him twice for him to notice me. "You okay?" I ask and he nods before pointing at an ice cream store.

"Up for any ice cream?" Rolling my eyes, I grab his hand and start walking to it.

"Of course, any time, any day for ice cream." Jaxon follows me while letting out a tiny laugh. A laugh I'm slowly starting to get used to, a laugh I wait to hear,  a laugh that speeds up my heart for no reason.

Once we have grabbed our ice cream cones, we walk to the end of the board walk and somehow our conversation keeps going while Jaxon makes joke, yeah I know, its kind of unbelievable, Jaxon making jokes pfftt, I wouldn't believe it either if I wasn't here myself.

"Hold up, I got another horrible joke," Jaxon stops me with a hand on my arm. "You ready for it?" I nod my head quickly in between laughs. "How do you make holy water? You boil the hell out of it."

"That was horrible!" I spit out between laughs, just as my foot hits a loose piece of wood in the boardwalk. I stumble forward and extend my hands to balance myself, not realizing that I have the ice cream cone in my hand. The cone hits Jaxon's chest, he was closer than expected because he was reaching out to grab my hand before I fell. Righting myself, I stand up and look at Jaxon with a sheepish smile. "Sorry..." My eyes trail down to his chest, I have to be honest, this isn't the first time that I noticed that it was bare but now its ten time more noticeable with the cream dripping down it. Lifting up my hand, I try wiping it off his chest, my attempt is futile. A couple tries later, I notice our position, Jaxon's hands is still holding onto my upper arm and my hand rests on his chest. Looking up, I am immediately trapped by Jaxon's gaze, his eyes dark eyes follow all my movements but now that we're both still, I feel his heart racing under my hand.

"Cyn..." Before he can say anything else, I drop my hand and step back.

"I got something for you," I dig into my bag for the two bracelets while trying to calm down my heart. What's wrong with me? And why do I feel like this? Pulling out the bracelet, I hold it up for Jaxon to see. Jaxon's eyes rip away from face and he gently takes the bracelet out of my hand. "One for you, and one for your mother." Taking it back from his hand, I grab his wrist and tie the bracelet on it.

"Thank you, she'll love it." Jaxon beams down at me with the most genuine smile on his face. "I love it." A smile breaks on to my face too at his happiness. Letting go of his wrist, I turn around,

"I'm glad you do. Now let's go join the others."

---

Driving back in the silence is the best feeling. His right hand is tangled into mine and resting on my thighs. Letting my head rest on the car seat, I watch his face tilted to face the front as the sun sets. Noticing my gaze, he turns and looks at me. His lips twitch up into a wide smile and he lifts up our entangled hands to give mine a kiss. His blue eyes sparkle in the sunlight and I long to continue staring into them but he turns his head back to the road. When we met up with Blake and Hayley after going to the boardwalk, Chris surprised us by showing up. We had dinner together and of course for the ride back, I came with Chris instead of Jaxon. Being with him, watching him, I think about how grateful I am. He's the best boy friend anyone could ask for. He cares about me, loves me, treats me right and I want him, I love him too. But if I love him, why do I feel like there's something missing?
