Bending down to set the coffee in front of a customer, my ears pick up on the door opening. From the corner of my eyes, I see a figure of a man enter but without even needing to see his face, I know that its Jaxon. Instead of going to the counter, he starts walking over to me causing me to stand upright with the empty tray hanging out of my hands at my sides.
"I need to talk to you." Jaxon says to me in a low voice when he's a couple feet away from me.
"We can talk after my shift ends." I reply absentmindly but notice that something's wrong when the scowl on his face deepens. "Or we could talk right now but only on one condition...you'll tell Eliza why I had to leave, I do not want to experience her wrath." The scowl slowly starts fading as he raises an eyebrow and asks,
"You do know that I'm the manager, right?" I shrug my shoulders in an 'I guess' matter and then place my tray on the counter before following him out of the store. Without even waiting for us to take a step outside, he glares at me. "What exactly happened last night?"
"You don't know what happened?" I ask in confusion, I thought he would have remembered it. As an afterthought, I smile slyly and answer his question with a lie. "We finally did it, we slept together." Jaxon doesn't even blink before immediately replying.
"No, we didn't. I wasn't that drunk."My smile drops and I nod in agreement.
"Yeah, I wouldn't do that, I mean who even wants to with you." A smirk grows onto Jaxon's face but I can still see annoyance in his eyes.
"Everyone, girls and boys included. Luckily, I only swing for one gender though, women, which means you might even have a chance." A wink is directed at me and I ignore the fact that it looked really good on him.
"So, is this why you had me leave in the middle of my shift, so that you could flirt with me? I know that I'm unresistable and that you want me all for yourself, but you gotta remember that there's other people who need me too. Sharing is caring, Jaxon." Its my time to smirk but instead of getting my desired reaction, I get the total opposite. Jaxon lets out a tiny chuckle which causes me to freeze, I've never seen him laugh or even smile. My hands itch to touch his lips and make sure it's real and for a minute I think I imagined it but then he turns his face towards me and a tiny smile is touching his lips. I can't help but admire the look on his face, tiny dimples are popping up on his cheeks and the smile softens all his features. As I stare into his eyes, my smirk turns into a small smile. After a moment of our staring contest, Jaxons smile falls and he grabs my hand.
"You're not going to mention what I told you yesterday to anyone, okay?" There's a blank look back on his face but I still nod my head in agreement. "Okay...now that thats over, I want to take you somewhere." My eyes widen in surprise and I start choking on my own saliva.
"Ar-Are you being nice?" Jaxon narrows his eyes in annoyance and before he can reply, I add. "I feel like you've been possessed, I mean even that day at school, you were being uncharacteristically...I don't know...you were showing emotion and you showed it again today... and yesterday."
"How do you know that I'm being nice right now? What if I was kidnapping you, huh?" Annoyance is written all over Jaxon's face as he scowls at me.
"Well....first of all, you wouldn't tell me," I reply with an amused smile. Jaxon ignores my comment, and rolls his eyes before grabbing my hand and gently pulling me towards his car. He drives in silence without glancing at me and soon I find myself in front of the hospital we visited last night. We slowly make our way down the hallway until we're standing in front of a familiar door. As I step into the room, everything looks the same, but then I notice that the unconsious women I saw yesterday is wide awake and is looking at me with her beautiful black eyes. A smile blossoms onto her face as she sees Jaxon step in after me.
