POV George
About an hour ago, Dream announced his idea to get ice cream on the boardwalk.
I spent that whole hour sitting on the edge of his bed, staring into space at my suitcase as I mentally freak out.
I've already been out in public multiple times on this trip and it never worked out, so how am I expected to go to a place in which people are always crowding.
I can't.
Out of nowhere the bedroom door swings open, revealing Dream who is also still currently in his lounge clothes. I look up at him hopelessly, causing him to frown in response.
"What's wrong?" He asks softly as he makes his way over and sits down next to me, rubbing circles on my back. I look down as I fidget with my hands in my lap, my tail moving to curl around my waist.
"I'm not sure today is such a good idea.." I mumble quietly, awaiting the disappointment to come from Dream. Instead I'm met with the warmth of his hug enveloping me as my breath hitches in surprise.
"We don't have to go if you don't want to. I just thought that maybe you would want a better experience in Florida since every time you've gone out it's sort of gone wrong." He says as he rests his head on the top of mine.
I sigh into his embrace and bury myself deeper into his chest, a small vibration building up in my chest over the happiness I feel over how caring my boyfrie-
My thoughts and purring immediately stop. Dream isn't mine. And I'm not his. My ears fold back on my head as I realize I'm not actually with him, really.
"What's the matter?" He asks, clearly noticing my change in demeanor. I forgot my ears aren't hidden anymore.
"I'm just.." I frantically try to think of an excuse off the top of my head, I am most certainly not ready to have that conversation yet. Then again, I never really want to have any serious conversations, avoiding them is my specialty.
"...just thinking about how I'm gonna regret my decision to go later.." I cringe at my own words.
I see Dream's face light up in pure joy as he pulls away from the hug to face me. Well shit, there's no going back now.
"Really?!" He asks, seeming as thrilled as a puppy before it goes on a walk.
"Mhm," I aggressively bite my lip as I lightly nod my head. He immediately jumps up and runs to the closet, yanking the door open as he starts searching through clothes.
"What are you doing?" I ask, my brain still a bit fried from my regret.
"Getting ready, we're finally going out!" He exclaims as he swiftly goes through his clothes, my face immediately flushes and my eyes go wide at his wording. He turns to look at me, most likely to question why I've gone silent, before he realizes what he said. His eyes widen and face tints red in response.
"I-I didn't mean it like that! U-unless you wanted me to? But..wait no that wouldn't really be-" How can this man be so confident and cocky, yet a nervous mess at the same time? I giggled at him, starting to lose myself in a fit of laughter as I fall back on the bed and struggle for air, forgetting why I was so flustered in the first place.
I can see him looking at me questionably through my tears, smiling like the idiot he is.
"Whaat?" He nervously chuckles.
"Yo-you're so dumb," I say through my hysterics. I'm starting to cough at the rate my laughs are attacking my lungs. Dream stands there and continues to stare at me dumbfounded.
