Mitch POV

*one week later*

"Uh Miranda..." I just got off a very interesting phone call.
"Uh Mitchhhhhh." She said looking up for her phone, Scott was sitting right next to her.
"We have to uhh attend court tomorrow."
"Shit." She mumbled.
"I'm not excited either."
"Do you guys both have jury duty at the same time or something?" Scott asked.
"No its about Ste-" I was about to finish when Miranda sent me wide eyes. I almost blew our 'my car broke down' cover.

"Did you say court? I think you meant class. I have an uh art class tomorrow, and Mitch is observing..." Miranda scratched her head nervously, but Scott just nodded. That was close.

She abandoned Scott and led me to her room. "Nice job Mitch!"
"I forgot we didn't tell them!"
"Whatever. Why do they need us?"
"Steven is getting testified. We need to be there to make sure he's locked up."
"Can't they just take our police statement?"
"Apparently this has to be offical. So dress nicely sis."
"Greatttttttt."
"How's it going with Scott?" I knew it was the one question she's dreading.

"He's completely in love with me and I feel bad." She looked down slightly.
"Why."
She sighed, "I don't really know how I feel about him. He's charming, and so poetic, and a complete gentlemen. But I'm scared that he's too perfect. I'm afraid something will happen and one of us will get hurt."
"Maybe you should give him a chance..."
"How are you not weirded out by this??? Your twin and your best friend?"
"I just accepted the fact. And so should you."
"God Mitchell. Don't tell me what to do!" She lightly slapped my arm.
"Bitch." I said and sprinted out of the room, with Mir following.

I jumped into Scott's arm, "Scottttttt! Your girlfriend is trying to hurt me!"
"We are not dating!" She marched over to me and tickled me until I fell to the ground.

"Okay, okay! I get it! I get it!" I said as I tried to recover.

Miranda POV

*the next day*

In a pair of high black heels and an uncomfortable pencil skirt, I stepped out of the car with Mitch following behind me. He put his hand on my shoulder.
"You have nothing to worry about Miranda!"
"The whole idea of seeing his face makes me want to die." Mitch smiled.
"You never changed Miranda."
"I don't plan on it. Mitch."

We walked into the courtroom and took our respected seats, across from Steven and his lawyer. The room was an old beige color, complete with ugly wood work. Fabulous.

The judge called the court to order,
"Please rise. The Los Angeles Court is gathered here today to plead Mr. Steven Thompson. I am Judge Carly Reynolds. The first witness to the stand will be Mr. Thompson himself." I watched as my ex boyfriend took the oath of truth.

"What really happened at that farmhouse, Mr. Thompson?" My attorney asked.

"Well, I was taking my girlfriend there on vacation-"
"I object!" I yelled.
"Please let him finish explaining, Miss. Grassi." Most of the court sent me death glares.....

"Like I said we were vacationing there, and I allowed her to bring her brother. We were simply enjoying ourselves, I never committed a single crime."
"NO he's..." I sank back down in my chair.

"Excuse me Miranda, but anyways I did not hurt them at all. We were having a good time out near the country. One day, Miranda suddenly became angry and stabbed me in the leg, twice, then fled the scene! She blamed me for things I never even did! Your honor I am innocent!" Steven finished.

"Thank you Mr. Thompson. Now we would like to call Miss. Miranda Grassi to the stand. Please explain your side of the story."

"I have to go off topic a little, excuse me your honor. So a few months ago Steven got into a car crash while drunk. He warned me not to go to the police and when I threatened to he kidnapped me. He claimed he wanted my father's money and locked Mitch and I in a barn! He practically starved us. He was about to shoot me, so purelyout of self defense, I stabbed him." I watched Steven's attorney feverishly write as I caught my breath.

"Those are two very different stories, don't you think." The judge said, "Is there any proof that Mr. Thompson was harmful to the Grassis'?"
"There was no proof of a gun at the crime scene and they did not seem harmed." My attorney said, Isn't he supposed to be helping me????

"And Steven you said Miranda just stabbed you out of anger?" Steven nodded.
"Your honor! He had a gun!" I shouted.
"There were not any guns found at the crime scene."

"Okay, we will give the jury time to decide and come back together in 15 minutes." The judge hit the gavel and everyone left the room.

"Steven lied and everyone believes him! He probably hid the gun!" I said angrily to Mitch.
"Miranda, calm down, it's going to be okay."

After the 15 minutes that seemed to drag on, the court was called back to order.
"Jury, have you made your decision?"
"We have. In conclusion, we believe that Mr. Steven Thompson is innocent and didn't complete anything crime worthy and-"
"No that's not true!!!" I yelled and was once again met by glares.
"And we are going to investigate into the car crash issue, but he will probably end up with simply a warning. As for Miss. Grassi, she is found guilty for attempted manslaughter." WHAT?!?!?

Two officers came behind me and cuffed my wrists together. They escorted me into small car, and the courtroom disappeared before I could comprehend what just happened.

A/N: Sorry this chapter is rather short! I am also aware this is not what would happen in a real court. Just go with it :)
