Scott POV

"And you did exactly what I told you to?" The older voice said on the other side of the phone.
"Yes, now please just leave her alone. And Mitch. Don't go near him either."
"Whatever." The line ran flat.

That night in the warehouse was horrible. I've never regretted anything more, but if the plan follows through its for the best. Maybe one day Miranda will thank me. Doubtful, but possible. The absolute horror on her face made me want to stop and help her... but I knew my 'boss' was watching my every move. They were most certainly unhappy when Kevin burst through to save Miranda. I wasn't going to rape her. I would never, disrespect anyone like that. I was supposed to scare her enough into giving me the money or its location. I don't even know what the money is or if she even has it. But lives depended on my actions, and I wasn't about to let a best friend die.

I've stayed in my room for two days now. I don't want to face anyone, let alone Miranda. She probably thinks I'm a perverted bastard. She will never understand my side of the story but I wasn't going to let my boss kill her, or Mitch. My phone rang, again.

"Hello?"
"She recently made a purchase so I was able to trace her credit card. All of the money was deposited into her bank account. I just need you to withdraw the money and I will leave you, and the twins alone."
"But isn't that stealing?"
"God. Just do it before I have to take more drastic measures."
"I don't even kn-" She cut me off.

Great, this is just great. Now I have to hack into Miranda's bank account, is the money really hers? I'm so confused on everything.

Did I meant who my boss was? Its...

"SCOTT WHO THE FUCK DO YOU THINK YOU ARE. I'M CALLING THE COPS. I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU WOULD EVER DO THAT. ESPECIALLY TO MY SISTER." Mitch burst through my bedroom door. I guess he found out....

Mitch POV

"AND YOU KNOW WHO TOLD ME THAT. DELANEY. SHE CALLED AND TOLD ME MIRANDA IS STAYING AT A FRIENDS BECAUSE SHE CAN'T BE AROUND YOU. THAT'S FUCKING SICK SCOTT. IT'S SICK THAT ANYONE WOULD DO THAT. I NEVER EXPECTED THAT BEHAVIOR FROM YOU. WHAT'S GONNA HAPPEN NOW SCOTT? WHAT ABOUT THE BAND? WHAT ABOUT THE MENTAL HEALTH OF MY SISTER? ARE YOU JUST GOING TO LET THESE THINGS FALL APART. SOMETIMES YOU ARE JUST SO STUPID. GROW UP SCOTT. LEARN HOW TO RESPECT A PERSON. AND GET OUT OF MY APARTMENT." I screamed then slapped Scott as hard as I could. He didn't even flinch, let alone react. He simply picked up his coat and walked out of the room.

I sat on his bed with my head in my hands. Everything is going wrong and I just can't handle it. You'd think that by now I'd be stronger, both mentally and physically. But all this recent drama has been weighing me down and I needed a break.

I walked into the bathroom and stared at my face in the mirror. My hair had grown thin with stress and there were bags under my eyes. With my red face I practically looked like a drug addict.

My thoughts flashed to Steven and mom and how Scott is apparently a completely different person then I thought. I realized my love life has taken a toll and I haven't even been on a real date in ages. My entire life is falling apart at the seams. Soon I probably won't even have the band to rely on.

Consumed with dark thoughts, I grabbed an old razor. I've been clean for so long. I can't do this, or can I. 'No one is going to stop you. They don't care.' My subconscious was pulling me farther and farther under. The room seemed smaller and smaller. I shut my eyes and put the blade on wrist. I pressed lightly but jumped when the sound on Beyoncé rang through the apartment. I dropped the razor in the process and followed the sound. Maybe that was for the best... I'm still clean. Everything is alright-ish.

The noise came from Scott's phone which he'd apparently left here in his abrupt departure. The number wasn't saved in his phone but I picked it up anyways since the ringing was annoying.
"Hel-"

"Look I know I called you earlier but I just got the girl's location. She's in the east apartment building in West L.A. I pinged her phone and I believe she's in the home of alleged criminal, Josh Retins. His file says he's been recently indicted into prison for robbery but was bailed out just yesterday. I'd be careful when you make the withdraw. Retins sounds pretty dangerous," That voice..... "Scott are you there???"

"Hi Mom." I never wanted to hear her voice again...
"Uhhh I don't know what you're talking about." She tried to disguise her voice, but it never fails to haunt me.
"I don't know what you and Scott are doing but I advise you to stop before I call the police."
"You are too late, Mitch. You can't ever stop me. You better watch your back, son." The line went blank. Was Scott working for my mom?

I clicked on his messages, and scrolled until I found the odd phone number.
---
Mom- I need you to do me a favor.
Scott- Who is this?
Mom- If you care about the well beings of your friends you will pay very close attention.
Scott- I'm going to report you, whoever you are.
Mom- You will do no such thing.
Scott- And if I do?
Mom- Say goodbye to Mitch and Miranda.
Scott- NO
Mom- Then follow these instructions, drag Miranda to the abandoned warehouse along 2nd Avenue. I don't care how you do it but force information out of her. I need to know where the money is. Threaten her, kill her, whatever- just get the information.
Scott- What money?
Mom- doesn't matter, do it by tomorrow or you can slowly watch your friends die. I'll be watch your every move.
Scott- Who even is this?
Mom- Good luck.
---
I ran my finger through my hair. I don't know what to believe anymore. Scott is working for mother. But she's forcing him? Scott could've staged this so I picked up the phone and saw the messages... Does he really think by hurting Miranda it's going to save her? She can stand up for herself! Why can't Scott understand this? I have to go find Miranda.

*3 hours later*

I knocked on the grayish apartment door and Delaney answered it. "Hey Mitch!" She hugged me as she led me inside Miranda's friends house.

"Hey Josh, come here!" Del yelled.
"I'm coming, I'm coming." Miranda entered the room first, followed by a tall brunette. The man tensed at my presence and pulled Miranda closer to him.
"Josh chill. This is my brother Mitch." He let go of her and walked towards me. We shook hands, "Hi I'm Mitch."
"I'm Josh, Josh Retins." He smiled.

Retins.... wait. He's the guy who was just arrested for robbery! What is he doing around Miranda?
"Umm Miranda." I said.
"Yeah?"
"First of all Scott is working with mom. Second your boyfriend is a crimimal." I slightly smiled pretending that those are completely normal things.
"Mitch, I believe you're forgetting that technically I'm a criminal. Josh is a great guy, trust me." She smiled brightly at the dark hard man.
"Your rapist is working with your mom???" Josh exclaimed, "God your life is messed up!"
"He's not a rapist! Did Mother put him up to it?"
"I don't know what to believe anymore!" Miranda shrugged.

Suddenly there was a loud crash outside the apartment. The door was busted in and the lights shut out. I quickly grabbed my phone and turned on the flash. I shined it directly towards the entrance.

Steven.

"What a great reunion, isn't it Miranda." With a wrapped leg, Steven slowly limped toward us. He aimed a gun at Josh who was attempting to block Miranda. "Josh, let go." She said firmly.
"The little whore has another boyfriend? I heard what the blonde one did to you." Miranda stayed silent while she removes Josh from her body.
"Why are you trying so hard? Is this really just for the money?"
"I don't give up." Steven was only a yard away from her. He pressed the gun against her temple and she looked down.
"The money... it's in..."
"Miranda stop!" I intervened.
"It's in my bank account. The number is *****. The password is mg828o." Steven nodded and lowered the gun, but Miranda grabbed it.

No one expected her to do it. But she raised the gun towards her own head and shot. She fell to ground as Josh and I ran towards her. Steven stood in shook while Delaney sobs rattled the floor.

Josh hugged her tightly while yelling into his phone. Sirens rang outside the apartment and paramedics rushed in taking her away. Josh's shirt was turning red and I couldn't move from my spot. Even Steven was immobile.
"Aren't you guys going to do something? Follow the ambulance!" Delaney screamed with tears running down her face.

"Is this what you wanted?" I asked Steven.
He simply looked at me with a regretful glance.

"I'm so sorry." Steven mumbled as I followed Delaney and Josh out of the door.
