As the train stopped the conductor spoke, "We have arrived at Kururkoo Mountain."
Gon got up and put on his backpack. He then turned to the boy, "Come on Ren. Let's go."
Ren nodded and followed Gon. Once they got off Gon went to the map and turned to Ren. "Do you think you can tell where you live?" Gon asked
Ren looked at the map and pointed to an area near the base of a smaller mountain next to Kururkoo Mountain, "That's where my village is. If we follow that path there should be a smaller one that leads to it."
Gon then ruffled Ren's hair and smiled. Ren looked up and smiled faintly back at Gon. They soon started to take a path leading to Ren's village. The sun started to set and Ren yawned. Gon smiled and stopped catching Ren's attention.
"You tired?" Gon asked
Ren rubbed his eyes, "A little."
Gon then took off his backpack and gave it to Ren, "Here, put it on." Once Ren put it on Gon bent down and looked behind him, "Here I'll give you a piggyback ride." Ren smiled and hopped onto Gon's back. "You ok?" Gon asked as he started walking
Ren nodded his head sleepily, "Mhm." Gon smiled as he continued walking.

After a while, Gon saw the path that led to Ren's village. "Hey, Ren-?" Gon started but stopped once he heard Ren's soft snores
Gon looked at the sign that was lit under the moon, reading it, it read to take a right to the village. Gon then took a right and saw a small lamp light followed by a few others. Gon sighed in relief. They had finally made it. They probably walked for an hour and a half. Ren mumbled and yawned opening his eyes.
Seeing the light Ren spoke, "Are we here?"
Gon nodded, "Mhm. Do you remember where your house is?"
Ren pointed to a hut that was smaller than the others. "That's where mommy lives...," Ren said
Gon walked to the house and bent down so Ren to get off. Gon glanced at Ren and noticed he looked very uncomfortable. Gon then knocked on the door and waited for a response. After a few minutes, Gon was going to knock again till it was opened by a blond woman. Her face was dull and tired as she looked at Gon and then at her son.
Ren ran up to his mom and hugged her, "Mommy!"
His mom stiffed and patted Ren's head hesitantly, "Ahaha... Oh, Ren your back... I thought I lost you..." She then turned to Gon and her eyes went wide.
Gon confused by her silence smiled politely, "Hello, you must be Ren's mom. I found Ren crying by the train station. My name is Gon. Gon Freecss."
Ren's mother snapped out of her shock and smiled awkwardly, "Oh! Thank you! I must have left Ren at the train station!"
Gon looked suspiciously at the woman before returning with a smile, "Ah, ok... Well, I must get going then-."
Ren's mother quickly interrupted Gon, "No! No! You came all this way! Please at least stay the night!"
Ren then turned to Gon, "Gon you'll stay right?"
Gon smiled down at Ren and saw a sparkle in his eyes, "Sure I guess I can stay the night. But tomorrow morning I have to keep traveling."
Ren's mother laughed, "That's no problem! In the morning we'll even treat you to breakfast before you leave. Please come in!"
As Gon entered he noticed that the house was very messy. It was a one-room hut that was separated by a thin wall. There were two small beds but it was clear which one belonged to which. The bed that was on a bed frame Gon assumed belonged to Ren's mother. While the mat on the floor belonged to Ren.
