"Quick question, why is your name Croci Anacon? It's a weird name." Kristoff asked to save us from embarrassment.

She became sad. I looked at Kristiana uncomfortably.

"I am an orphan. I was adopted from the orphanage at my 4 th birthday. My adopted family owns a reptile's zoo. So, they changed my name from Cara Ally to Croci Anacon as in Crocodile"

"Cara Ally. That's a sweet name. Why did they want to change it to Croci? It's gives evil vibes!" Kristiana said and Eric let out a gasp.

His hand became normal. How did it heal so fast?

"Tell me, what were you doing in the tunnel?" Croci asked

"We stumbled into it. We saw a huge dark tree growing inside it. We should tell Ms. Ariel"

I saw a pair of eyes watching us through the bush. It quickly hid when I turned around. I could make out the dark hair tailing along.

"What, Ellie?" Kristoff asked.

"Nothing" I said and had my concentration on the bush.

It's no use going over to the bush. The girl, whoever was hiding had gone. Why is she spying on us in the first place?

The bell rang.

"I have Sports now. I will see you all around" said Croci taking her leave.

"What do we have now?" Eric asked.

"Water Abilities with Ms. Ariel" I said and we moved to our classroom.

"We will tell her about the tree" Eric said.

"Water" Ms. Ariel was saying, "It is the most difficult element to handle and the effective element. Everyone here have different powers. You have to use your powers and bend the situation. Eric, can I have you here?"

He went to the front of the class.

"What was your power?" Ms. Ariel asked.

"I can melt anything to water....."

"It may sound as a dumb power but see this" Ms. Ariel said and asked Eric, "Can you melt this table for me?"

He nodded and touched it. The table disappeared and water was flowing in the floor. We all applauded.

"He can melt anything. Anything. Do you have any limits on your power?" She asked.

"I can't melt down people"

She threw him an 'I-am-done-with-you' look.

"Now Eric, I want an essay on things you have melted before coming to Gagenoble. Others, I Want you to do an essay on things you have used your powers on"

We all let out protests.

"I have said what I need to say. Let's go to today's lesson on Water characteristics."

We were in the feast hall having our lunch with Cedric. When someone decided to join us, I pulled out a chair for him.

"Hello. I am Ellie's brother, Ethan. I see that she has made some friends. Why are you all upset?"

"It's nothing" I said quickly. He gave me a stare.

"Fine, I will get going then" He said and moved to his friends.

"How much longer, we have to keep this secret?" I asked.

"A little longer" Kristiana said.

We all have went to see Ms. Ariel about the dark plant growing under the Sarsaparilla. The answer we got was a nod and , "We are having trouble due to this plant. We are closing the tunnel today. Don't breathe a word to anyone."

"Why?" I asked.

"We are trying to remove it. We don't want the students knowing"

"Ellie?"

"HUH?"

"Cedric is telling us something!" Kristoff said.

I nodded and looked at Cedric. He was talking, "I went to meet Athea in the Medical room. She told me she was sick. The nurse told me that there is nothing to worry about because Empires can tolerate high temperatures. She told me that she will be not just effective. I also looked through truffles. No one has the power of something related to time"

He sighed disappointed.

"What do we have next?" Eric asked upset.

"We have Sports, Empire Medics, Water Math and Spelitin"

"Spelitin? The language of Vampires? We are studying it this term?"

"Yup"

We were facing a stern woman. She was wearing a three-fourth pant and a gym shirt.

"SPORTS is important as every other subject. You will have tests and marks here also. So, I recommend you take this subject seriously." Ms. Ash, the head of goldsparrow dorm said.

We all nodded.

"Now, I need you to take part in the Empire Athletics trials"

When she got no reply, she shouted, "Is that clear?"

We nodded and went to the track ground. It was a race. We had to cross the five elemental barriers and reach the destination point.

"Ready, set, go."

I ran as fast as I could. As, all the first year houses share the same class, there were about Twenty five students.

Before me, were three students, one of them was Eric. First, we had to cross the air tornado, which was being created by a senior student. I could freeze time, but it will be cheating because we shouldn't use our powers in the race. So, I resisted it and moved front. Then, I saw Kristoff whispering something to Kristina. She came near me and said, "We have to stop it. A tornado has a weak point. It's the eye".

I nodded and ran straight into the tornado. I punched the mid of the spiral as hard as I could. The senior student fell on her back. The barrier was broken.

"Good job, Ellie" Kristoff said.

"Thanks" I said running fast.

Now only, Eric and another boy were ahead of me. The Earth shook. That must be the next barrier. I balanced and moved farther. Again, the two boys were ahead of me.

Next was the fire circles, We had to jump through them. I made it out with all my stamina. Cedric smirked at us while crossing them.

Then, we had to move across a dancing bridge while water come splashing. It was a piece of cake for Startrekkers. So, I crossed it easily.

Now, I and Eric were in the lead. We had to cross another room where the temperature changes.

I went inside. The floor was hot and in the next minute turns cold. I screamed and ran. I made it out of there to see I have finished the race and I was first.

"Good" Ms. Ash said. "I have selected the first three students who reached first for the team. Ellie Meltone, Eric Bracer and Ed Salter are officially in the Empire Athletics team.

I turned around to see an equally amazed Eric and the boy who was ahead of me first.

Kristoff and Kristiana congratulated us and were talking with the new boy, Ed. He had red hair and brown eyes.

"I am from Radcliffe" he was saying, "I can use air to carry me around"

The bell rang and I walked to the next class, tired.
