-- ARLO'S POV --

"Damn that girl-- she's hot." My friend, Ethan, hollered as he saw Sydney enter the class laughing with her friend.

"I know right, she's a fine one." I agreed.

"If I wasn't in a relationship, I would talk to her." He sighed.

"Nah-uh, I like her, so stay with Becky or Betsy, whatever you call her." I smirked.

"It's Betty and I don't even like her, I'm dating her to get to her cousin."

"You haven't changed." I sigh as I shook my head at my bestfriend's player character.

"She's so fine even in a hoodie." He said, urging my confusion.

"Wait, are you talking about the one in red or the one in blue?"

"The one in Blue, she's hot and smart."  He replied focusing well on Niana the more. "Don't you know most girls who cover themselves in big clothes are the ones with the best body."

"Nah bro, I'm talking about the one in red." I clarify with him.

"Well, Sydney isn't my type, she's too exposed, unlike the innocent Niana."

The way he called her name just fuelled something in me and I suddenly became protective.

"Don't talk to her if you just want nothing but sex." I warned sternly.

"Why?"

"It isn't cool." I answered.

"Well I like her."

Why was I getting angry over what doesn't even concern me?

"What about Betty's cousin?" I frowned.

"I only want to have sex with Cynthia but I want to date Niana."

"Are you sure it's not to get to Sydney?"

"Hey, what crawled up your ass?" Ethan asked as he looked at me weirdly. "You don't even like her so why are you concerned?"

"I'm sorry man, I'm just not in the right mood." I lied.

That wasn't the truth-- I wasn't in a bad mood. I just don't know what came over me, why I got jealous when he said he liked her.

Maybe I ate too much spicy drumsticks today. That's why I'm grumpy.

Before we could continue our discussion, the teacher entered the class and I couldn't be more grateful, even though I never understand what the man is spurting. Physics has always been the one subject which I hated the most-- I despised it.

After the class, I drove to the grocery shop to get some things my mom pleaded with me to get.

The thing was that, I disliked anything that had to do with the kitchen or home, like cooking and other domestic chores. It's just so annoying and tiring.

I drove the cart past the beef section after getting the one I wanted, but as I tried to reverse to add one to it, I bumped into someone as the person's body met with the floor.

Oh shit!

"I'm so Sorry, I didn't--"

It was Niana, the girl from school.

"I'm fine." She smiled.

She obviously wasn't, you could tell by the limp from her left leg. I think she hit it on something-- her cart maybe.

"Your leg?"

"It will stop sooner or after,I'll get going now." She rushed as she tried to turn around to leave.

"Wait, I might at least get you some ice packs."

"It's fine Arlo." She gritted her teeth and I was shocked by this somewhat nostalgic feeling when she called my name.

Why did it sound so familiar.

"Ok, I think you are in pain now, is that why you are getting grumpy?"

"Just stop it." She said hitting my chest making me laugh.

She shook her head, turning around, she left. I followed her.

"So--" I put my hands around her shoulder as she quickly took it off, her face beat red.

"What?" She asked bitting her lips nervously.

"Calm down, I'm not going to bite you, I just wanted to ask You." I said going close to her face that was as red as an iron in a furnace. "What type of guys does Sydney like?"

"I don't know, maybe someone who is less flirty and talkative." She snapped pushing me, as she tried to pushed her cart fast, her limp hindering her.

"You didn't even give me a clue." I joked as she turned back to give me a glare-- earning a chuckle from me.

She's cute.

I finished shopping and bought an ice pack and bandage in the pharmacy store close to it, in case I see her outside.

Fortunately, I saw her packing her things into the car.

"If someone saw you here, they would think you came here to buy foodstuff, not junk food." I said, startling her, as I stared at the packs of chocolates and cookies and other junk food scattered in her trunk.

"Gosh, what the hell?" She whispered holding her chest as she leaned on her car.

"Sorry, I brought you this." I said showing her the first aid kits.

She tried to refuse but I ignored her-- bending down to check the leg. I removed her shoe, then blood stained socks carefully as I saw the injury on her ankle, it was just a scratch though. But it was swollen.

I cleaned the injury and put a bandage, when I was about to wear her the socks, I saw something I never expected to see as my eyes widened.

It was a birthmark,in the shape of a butterfly. It wasn't too small or big, just visible enough on the other side of her ankle.

There was only one Niana I knew that had this birthmark, I had seen it once when we were younger in a summer camp and I still remember it clearly.

"Nini." I whispered as I looked up at her, she looked away.

"Thank you for helping me take care of it." She said taking the ice pack from me, throwing her rest stuff in the truck, entered her car and drove off.

I just stood there staring at her car zoom off, how come i didn't realise the girl I had my first kiss was this Niana.

But I had feelings for her best friend now, how was I gonna get on her good side?
