My Daddy's been acting strange recently, since the that day at the party. He would always call every minute to check where I was, if I was okay and he particularly asked me to stay away from Arlo.
I didn't really need him to tell me that, I was already doing it-- staying away from Arlo.
we went on midterm break on Friday and I've never been so happy. I'm going to enjoy this two weeks break to the fullest, no reading and stressing.
Just me and food.
Unfortunately, Sydney followed her parents to Florida and I've never been so lonely in my life.
"Hey, what are you thinking?" Miss Anita said looking from the door.
"Come i--"
She was already in.
"Did I need your permission?" She asked making me sigh.
She always had a way of putting me in my place.
"Nothing, it's just-- have you noticed Daddy's recent behaviour?"
"Mr Rodrigo is just worried about you, that's all." She said trying to calm my thoughts.
"Why is he worried about me? I'm perfectly fine." I argued.
"Sweetheart, there are some things that are better kept away from you, he'll tell you at the right time." She said standing up to check my mini fridge.
"Ok, I'll wait." I say trying to reassure myself.
"Still on the matter of junk food?..... Niana!" She snapped when I didn't answer her.
"Ok I get it, no more junk food, geez, calm your tits woman." I mumbled standing up to pack them out of the fridge and arrange them in a nylon before giving it to her.
"I'm sharing for the kids in the nursery school close by." She said checking if I left some out.
"You wouldn't."
"Well watch me."
I immediately went on my knees as I held her leg tightly. "Please ma'am, this is my only companion."
"Well if you want anything sweet, we can go out to get it." She smiled so sweetly that you could tell once it was fake.
"But wouldn't that be too much stress?"
"It's not stress for me, as far as it concerns you." She said tying up the bag and dropping it on my bed before going to take my dirty laundry.
"How come you are home today?"
"Your Dad asked me to stay with you, I'll ask Lillian to do your laundry." She replied going next to arrange my table.
"Okay, I'm really curious now. Why does he want you to stay with me? To watch where I go?"
"Too much questions young lady." Miss Anita said throwing my towel to me before pointing to the bathroom. "You won't lazy around on my watch."
She checked if all my things were in order, then left, not before telling me that she gives me thirty minutes to come downstairs.
I dragged myself from my bed to my bathroom. I wasn't really in the mood to do anything today but with Miss Anita around, I'll definitely do it without choice.
I freshened up, slipping on a boyfriend Jean, black turtle neck top and a flannel on top. I wore sandals since it wasn't too cold out.
I went downstairs and ate breakfast with Miss Anita before we left the house in her car.
True to her words, Miss Anita gave out all my bag of junk food to the nursery school teacher-- who was a friend of hers to share it out to the children. I couldn't believe my eyes, I felt like collecting it from a kid who opened the chocolate and immediately started to munch on it.
After reading a book to the children, I waited for Miss Anita to finish distributing the other gifts she bought for the kids.
After she was done, she decided to see the head teacher before leaving so i went outside to wait for her. Suddenly I felt something on my neck making me jump, in the process, I missed my step and fall down.
I looked up to see Arlo smiling with a leaf in his hands, remembering my father's words, I get up to go back inside but he grabbed my hand to halt my movement.
"I don't see your dad anywhere." I said forcefully pulling my hand away.
"I came to give you something." He said bringing out a ring box from his pocket.
"And what do I need it for?"
"It's yours." He said opening the box to reveal an expensive rose gold engagement ring.

"How did you know I was here?" I asked but instead of replying, he pulled out the ring, took my left hand and slipped it on my middle finger.
"Remember to leave out your location when you post pictures on Instagram." He said making me remember I had posted on my Instagram few minutes ago-- A picture of I and the kids.
"Why are you doing all this when you don't even have feelings for me?" I asked.
"Blame my mother." He said before Turning around and left.
This is really getting out of hand, the whole confusion is getting me riled up so my Daddy did better give me a reasonable explanation today.
Just then, Miss Anita came out, I slid off the ring so she wouldn't see it while we drove home.
On getting home, I saw my Father watching Tv in the sitting room as I stormed to him.
"Hello princ--"
"I want to know why Arlo decided to give me an engagement ring." I said cutting him off.
"What?" He whispered before Turning his attention to Miss Anita. "I thought I explained the situation to you?"
"She didn't tell me she met Arlo." She said in a small voice and I suddenly felt guilty for not telling her.
"I asked you to take care of my Daughter." He yelled making her look down.
"I'm sorry sir." She whispered but loud enough for us to hear.
"Is sorry going to save my daughter's mental state?" He continued yelling. "Or is it going to reduce her curiosity now and make everything go back to normal aga-"
"Daddy." I shouted cutting him off. "Don't yell at my Aunty, gosh."
I ran upstairs as I felt tears prick at my eyes. I just shouted at my Dad...the one person who loves me most in the world just because he cared alot about me.
"I'm such a Bad daughter." I thought as my breathing got ragged, pushing the door to my room, I ran to my bed as the tears I've been trying so hard to hold release themselves.
The ring tightly held in my fist.
