Without You

Chapter 5

Once Ross left I got ready to go with Vanessa to see the apartment she's getting and to go see the doctor.
I went to my drawer and took out some high waisted black shorts. I went to my closet got my black converse and a Minnie Mouse crop top. I applied light makeup on and grabbed my hair in a high ponytail.
I walked down stairs and saw Vanessa in the living room watching TV.
"Are you ready?"
"Let me grab something to eat first and then we'll head out."
"Well I was going to take you out and eat IHOP, but I guess you don't want some."
My eyes popped out when she said IHOP.
"You know I'm not starving at all right now."
I grabbed my purse and my keys and we headed out.
....
We arrived at IHOP and they seated us. There wasn't really anybody here only a family of 4 and an old couple. "Its always packed on Saturdays."
"What you say?" asked Vanessa in a soft voice.
"Oh I said that out loud. I was thinking to myself."

The door suddenly opened as I eating my pancakes with ice-cream and Vanessa was eating her egg with bacon and pancakes. I looked at the door and saw him enter. Chris. He had the hits in his face that Ross gave him. "Vanessa can we go. Like NOW!"
"But I'm not finished."
"Vanessa please."
"Is that the guy."
I nodded my head and looked at Vanessa with a sad face. Then she replied "Okay lets go." Her faced turned serious as we passed by him and his family.
I heard a scream call my name as I went out through the doors. "Laura!"
I ignored him and kept walking fast with Vanessa ahead of me. We were close to the car when Chris caught up to us. Vanessa opened her door. He pulled my arm. I quickly reacted to it and pushed him away from me.
"Chris leave me alone." He didn't.
Vanessa slammed the door and turned toward Chris and slapped him one then twice. "Don't you clean your ears she told you to leave her alone! If you don't go back inside their I will call the police on you. Leave my sister alone she doesn't want anything to do with you anymore."
"I think I wasn't talking to you. Or was I?," She didn't respond because her face with filled with anger,"thought so. Look Laura I'm sorry about how I acted with you yesterday. I was just jealous because Ross always gets the girls I like. And I thought I was going to loose you. Please give me a second chance." He grabbed my hands and looked straight into my eyes with sadness and water started to form in them. I wanted to say yes badly so he could leave me alone but in my heart was Ross now and I never really liked him. I also remembered what Ross told me yesterday about him and Niomi.
I finally spoke to him, but first looked at Vanessa. "You mean like Niomi."
He looked confused "What?"
"I know what happened between you two. Ross told me everything."
His face turned red. Caught him. "How does he know he wasn't there?"
"Oh so your my denying it."
"It's not true."
"Chris shut up. You just excepted it! You were going out with Ross's girlfriend at the same time he was."
"No I wasn't."
"Dude just except it and leave my sister alone.She doesn't like you anymore. Move on!"
"You know what shut up I'm not talking to you open your mouth again and I'll rip your mouth open!"
"Uh excuse me what did you tell my sister. Just leave me alone don't talk to me."
"Oh no I didn't mean it in that way.Look Laura please I'm sorry for all I did now and yesterday. I don't mean those things. I'm stupid."
"Yeah you are and your stupid enough to think I'll give you a chance."
"It's all because of Ross huh?"
"What? This has nothing to do with him."
"Yeah it is. I bet you had already done all things with him."
"Oh my god you think I'm that low. Well guess again. Me and Ross are just friends that's all. And if we were more than just friends I'll let you know."
My phone suddenly rang. Oh please don't let it be Ross.
"Who is it?"
I checked. Ross. Nice timing. Ugh.
"My mom."
"Your lying."
"It is."
"Then go right ahead answer it."
I answered, "Hey mom. What's up?"
"Uh...whats wrong Laura? Why did you call me mom?"
"Oh okay mom well call you in a bit I'm busy with some stupid guy who isn't leaving me alone."
"Chris!"
"bye"
I hung up and walked to the car but Chris slammed the door to close and he started kissing my face.
"Leave me alone."
Vanessa quickly went on top of him and hit him in the face and the spot. Ouch 3 in total for 2 days.
I was reacting slowly to the thought of the baby. "Vanessa! The baby!"
"She got off of him and we went quickly inside of the car and went off.

"Haha, omg Vanessa."
"He is so stupid. How didn't their family see all that."
"Who cares. Thanks for being there for me and I know this isn't the last time this is going to happen."
"It's not.But damn Laura he is cute. I want to see that Ross guy. I had my chance yesterday but I figured you two were going to talk for a really long time so I didn't bother to disturb you two."
"Oh you knew he was here."
"Uh he fell during the night and you were laughing and I heard a boy laughing and you scream because he pulled you down. So I figured he came over."
I started laughing and blushing all at once.
"Well we are here." Vanessa said after a long period of silence. We had arrived to the apartments and let me tell you this. These don't look like apartments. They look more like condos or houses stacked on houses.

We went into the lobby and it was huge and all fancy. There was a chandelier and white leather couches. We went to the front desk and told them we had an appointment to talk to the manager and see the apartment before we make a final agreement. Well Vanessa makes the final agreement.
They finally let us pass to see the manager.
"Hello Ms.Marano. We are happy you chose to be here in our apartment. Shall we go see it."
"Yes Mrs.-" while shaking her hand.
"Mrs.Travis." She looked about 40 years old or older. Blonde with very light blue eyes and very mature.
We went up the elevator and onto the 14th floor. When we got there we went inside the 3 door on the left.
"Okay this is your apartment." Mrs.Travis opened the door and wow the living room was big with wood floor. The kitchen had a bar table, an island, the kitchen made of marble. We went into the master bedroom and it had a a space which was high that you need to go up 4 steps. Oh I forgot to mention its a two story apartment. we walked into the bedroom bathroom and it was all white with a big tube and a shower. "Uh can I move in like now!" Vanessa told Mrs.Travis," it's beautiful. How much is the deposit."
"$250"
"Okay where's the other bedroom."
"That one is downstairs."
"Other bedroom?"
"Yeah for the baby when it's older"
"Okay?" she didn't make sense at all.
We went in and the room had white tile floor and it was the size of my room maybe a little bigger and with a balcony view out to the LA city. "Wow this might be my favorite."
"It's yours." She handed me a key to the room and I think the house.
"What?!? I'm moving in with you."
"Yeah I told mom she said it's fine. I actually came yesterday to make all the adjustments and I'm moving in today in the afternoon. Just one thing you only have to help me with $250 on rent because that's how much I need. I can't afford this one with all the bills."
"I don't care I'll be living with my sister.Wait what about mom?"
"She is uh moving to Maryland with grandma cause grandma needs her help and Aunt Claire doesn't want to help her so...yeah"
"Oh wow we just got here like two months ago and now she's leaving. Well whatever. Are we allowed to paint and all that."
"Oh yeah that's where we are headed right now.To buy the paint."
"I think we should paint the living room brown and my room mint and yours light purple and the kitchen the same as the living room."
"Girl you know my style."
....
We came back from Hime Depot. I called Ross to come help me and Vanessa he said he'd bring his brother who is visiting him from Colorado. I think he said Riker I could be wrong.
About 10 minutes after I heard a knock on the door. I checked the hole and it was covered with someone's finger.
"Who is it Laura?"
"I don't know. The person is covering it with a finger."
I opened the door to see Ross and his brother. They had pizza.
"Hey, next time don't cover the hole. Or I'll punch you in the face with my fist and an ax with knives." He looked at me and laughed. I hugged him.
"Your too cute. Oh we bought pizza.
"Yeah I see that." I giggled a little which let out a snort. "Vanessa they're here.Sotry she's upstairs. So you must be Riker right."
"Yeah." he held out his hand. He is really damn cute. He has dirty blonde hair that covered one eye. Hazel-green eyes. He is tall a little taller than Ross and had a gorgeous smile. If it wasn't because of Ross I would take him out anytime he wants. "Oh uh you could put the pizza on the island." I walked over and just glared around the room"
"So are you ready to start Laura."
"Uh yes." I heard footsteps coming down. "Oh wait first come meet my sister. Ross this is Vanessa, Vanessa this is Ross and that's Riker over there. Riker! This is my sister Vanessa."
"Uh...Hey"
"Well if you guys want you could get started on painting and I'll be back I have to go to the doctors I'll be back in an hour." responded Vanessa.
"Vanessa so you want me to go with you?" I asked.
"No it's okay I'll just come and go like that." snapping her fingers.
"You know it's not safe for a girl to go out by herself." finally he talked. By he I mean Riker. "If you want I could take you."
"Would you?"
"If you want. I don't mind at all."
"Huh alright come." She signaled him to the door.
They left.
Ross and I got the paint and started painting the living room and kitchen. It was quiet for about 20 minutes until Ross finally spoke. "Uh so what's wrong with your sister that she needed to go to the doctor?"
"She's pregnant."
"Oh who's the dad?"
"A jerk that left her."
"Bad question to ask."
"Haha, it's okay."
"How are we going to see each other now."
"Vanessa said you could come over whenever you want just don't do anything that will make her kill you."
"She knows I went right."
"Yep. She heard when you fell." A moment of silence began again until I said "Ross" and splatted him paint in his face on accident when I turned to him. "Oh my..." I couldn't help but laugh at his face being nearly covered in paint.
"Oh your getting payback." I started running around the apartment and laughing while Ross ran in back of me. I was screaming and running and saying "Hold up I gotta catch my breath" but still laughing. He finally caught me when I entered my room. He pushed me down onto the floor. He started painting my face with the paint brush and wiping his face into mine.
"Oh Ross eww.Your so gross."
He helped me get up and then quickly picked me up grabbing me from my knees. I grabbed his and he lifted his head as we kissed.

We finished the Kitchen a the Living Room. We were going to start with my room until Ross noticed the sunset. It was beautiful. It had orange with yellow and I felt free. We went out to the balcony while holding hands. " The sky is beautiful." I said while sighing.
"Not as beautiful as you. Your beauty wins this all. Nothing can compare to you"
"Aww thanks Ross. It's incredible to think that now your mine."
"Me too." He hugged me. As I cuddled into his arms looking out into the sunset and his chin resting on my head. I fit perfectly into his arms. I could hear his heart beat.
"Laura do you want to go camping with me in 3 weeks."
"Only if it's in a cabin."
"Of course. It's up in Colorado. My parents own one their."
"that's so cool.Sure I'll. Are we the only ones going."
"Yes!"
"Even better. Ross do you wanna maybe stay here with me again."
"You don't have to ask just know that I will."
"Then let's go get my mattress from my moms house and we'll finish painting tomorrow."
We left leaving a perfectly perfect pizza uneaten.
