Book Title: Hate me All you want
Question 1: What inspired you to write this hilarious story?
A: Oh there was no specific like inspiration for this one, I was actually working on a teen fiction novel of mine, which I haven’t released yet, so there were some grim mental issues in it and I realised that I wanted to entertain people and give them a break from their stressful lives so I began constructing a short, fluffy yet funny romcom, and that’s how my novelette ‘Hate me all you want” came into the picture.
Question 2: Have you always wanted to be a writer?
A: No, I want to be an engineer, but if you ask if writing has been a passion then yes, I’ve been constructing original short stories and telling it to my close friends and family members ever since I was 12. So, I really enjoy the art of storytelling. It's refreshing.
Interviewer: I absolutely agree with you about how much fun storytelling is.
Question 4:Who is your mentor?
A: I don’t have one sadly, however I’ve been a bookworm since a very young age prolly when I was only 8, I’ve read around 250 novels till now and every now and then I do find a writer whose works I really love and their writing style is very unique, they inspire me to improve myself. Some writers I really love (basically me fangirling lol): Cassandra Clare, Leigh Bardugo, Colleen Hoover, Sandhya Menon and Rick Riordian.
Question 3: Did you do any special research or talk to social media influencers for this story?
A: No, I did not talk to any influencer per say but I did have a chat with some of my friends in school who have over 1k followers, on the pressure, engagement and other tiny aspects of social media which I definitely wasn’t aware of, and yes a little research goes a long way so that did help as well.
Question 5: What is your favourite quote from the story?
A: It’s a quote from one of my favourite romance movies of all time, 10 things I hate about you, also the starter of my chapter 5:
“Don’t let anyone ever make you feel like you don’t deserve what you want.”
Question 6: Are any of the characters based on real life people?
A: No, they’re not. However, this story is strongly inspired by a true event in my very close friend’s life.
Interviewer: Really? Wow.
Question 7: How do you handle criticism?
A:I haven’t received any negative remarks or trolls yet but the most common complaint I get is about my sentence structuring. Whenever anyone points out that flaw, I actually personally thank them. There’s a difference between a well wisher who just wants your betterment and a hater. I got a girl once who left an angry message in my inbox regarding one of my characters, so I had a little chat with her on why she felt there was a problem. Instead of replying, she ghosted me. So, well yeah, like I said, identify the difference in critiques and random haters.
Interviewer: Thanks for chatting with us and good luck with your story and future projects.
