Chapter 1
Oikawa woke up later than normal.
Kuroo had already left for work and the house was silent except for Tooru's footsteps on the polished wooden floor. Yesterday was a very simple day, today on the other hand was work.
Honestly Oikawa didn't know how to feel about the job he was assigned. He was given two stapled pages indicating specifically what he was supposed to do plus an email in case he never got to read it.
The directions state as follows.
Oikawa Tooru
Coralife Restoration and Research
Summary
AJ Marine Life Research Center, asks Oikawa Tooru to accompany Yahaba Shigeru to the coral locations that were emailed to said person prior to the event.
For two weeks we will be monitoring your progress and work ethic.
Make sure to bring your diving equipment, swimsuit, as well as camera. All of those necessities have been previously shown to Oikawa Tooru when he was guided on a tour of the vicinity. The oxygen tanks and sample kits will be provided separately where Yahaba will be waiting.
For one week the AJ Marine Life Research Center will ask Oikawa Tooru to photograph corals in the area, label them, as well as send the PDF with the information to the email provided down below.
The AJ Marine Life Research Center also asks Oikawa Tooru to prepare and be ready by 7PM everyday as Oikawa and Yahaba will go to a secluded area for the pictures at 8PM.
Everything said above will go on for a week as stated and for the second week the AJ Marine Life Research Center will ask Oikawa Tooru to look over the Coral Gardens set up in a location near the area as well as note it's progress of growth and show photographic evidence of each planter.
During the second week the AJ Marine Life Research Center asks Oikawa Tooru to sample sand around the area and send it to the Lab Center where AJ Marine Life Research Center will inspect it.

At first Oikawa was annoyed that they would make him do something so simple and boring.
Then Oikawa was upset that he will do this for a while, two weeks of just taking pictures, sampling some sand, and doing easy shit. What do they take him for, an idler?
BUT THEN! Oh then, Oikawa was mad.
The more he thought of it and read the paper, the more he thought of how weird it was and if these people were legitimately crazy.
To get this straight they were asking Oikawa, who they have no prior knowledge of, if he even knows how to not only use a camera but to assume that he knows how to swim as well. Which he does, he will tell you he is a phenomenal swimmer if you ever asked him up front.
But even then, deep diving at night is dangerous. To be expected to do this every day without a care of the weather or if Oikawa even knows how to swim is beyond stupid. Who knows if one day the water is choppy and rough, and something dangerous occurs.
Is he still expected to proceed with the job he was assigned with?
Not only that but diving was something that people usually never did alone. Never in his life has he ever scuba dived alone at night or just alone in general, Oikawa was always with a group of people accompanying him.
