Chapter 16

It was quiet for a while, it seemed that most of the people had left to go home. At least one of the mers and the human that had stabbed him left. Kenma kept up the sleeping as much as he could until he heard someone sigh. "Thank you Tetsu-chan. I appreciate it."

He could imagine the other human shaking his head,"Don't worry about it. But..., I want him out of here the moment the siren gets better. We don't know what he is capable of so be careful and don't get your hopes up."

The other human seemed to agree,"I understand. I...I owe you one"

The man that was called Tetsu sighed,"Go attend Iwaizumi. I'm sure the mer is confused about everything that is going on."

"I will talk to him."

Oikawa left leaving behind only Tetsurou and Kenma. The siren could feel the nervousness taking over. The blanket that was on top of him didn't help, he could feel himself sweating. Kuroo frowned as he looked at the creature laying on the couch. He walked over slowly towards the siren before crouching down, his face was eye level to that of Kenma's to the point where he could feel his breath.

"I know you are awake, you can stop the act."

Kenma snapped his golden eyes open and made contact with round hazel ones. They stayed like that for a moment, with the siren glaring up at him while the human smirked.

Kenma couldn't help but ask out loud,"You knew and didn't say anything?"

Tetsurou shrugged,"Didn't see the point. Would you have preferred me to?"

Kenma hissed up at him at the suggested,"I guess that is a no coming from you, kitten."

"Don't. Call me kitten."

He could see the human's eyes gleam, as did his grin.

"Of course... kitten."

In an instance Kenma launched himself on top of him, the blanket falling on the ground. He could feel himself digging his nails into the humans arms. Tetsurou's eyes widened in panic as the siren was able to pin him down, the human winced as the black nails kept digging in as he struggled. "What do you think you are doing!"

Kenma grinned,"You humans have no idea how powerful we can truly be." The siren twisted his nails enjoying the grimace coming from Kuroo,"It's funny seeing you humans try so much only to no avail, squirming in pain is quite enjoyable. Now, if you could show me the exit-"

Kenma gasped as he felt the Tetsurou lean his head forward at full force leading to him but heading the siren in the process. "Ugh!"

Kuroo quickly was able to flip them over again, he panted and gripped his wrist tightly, securing the siren's hand with both hands.  Kuroo couldn't help but thank his father and grandpa for teaching him self-defense, with them working as police officers it was no suprise they would teach Tetsurou. Kuroo even had his own guns stored in the second room upstairs.

Kenma groaned and glared up at the human,"You did not just hit me, you idiot!"

Tetsurou chuckled,"Says the one who literally dug his nails into my arm," Kuroo looked down," Seems pretty cat like. Speaking of arms I might need it to be wrapped like your foot was. Which was thanks to me, by the way."

The siren growled in annoyance,"Let go of me."

Tetsurou frowned,"Now why would I do that?"

"You won't like what will happen, if you don't."

Kuroo rolled his eyes,"Yeah, I wouldn't."

Tetsurou let go and instantly leaned back from Kenma's outstretched claws.

"What is it with you being so aggressive? Is it a mer and siren thing?"

Kenma hissed and sat up from the couch glaring up at the taller human. "Do not compare us."

Kuroo laughed and made his way over to the love seat, ignoring the painful stare of Kenma watching him closely. "It's funny how both of you are so similar yet hate each other."

"There are a lot of things that differentiate us from each other."

Tetsurou raised an eyebrow,"Like what?"

"Our beliefs, reproduction, how we look and act-"

Kuroo laughed,"I wouldn't say there is much of a difference on how you look."

Kenma ignored him and continued,"Everything is different, even what we eat."

That piqued his interest,"Food? How is what you eat going to lead to the amount of hate you guys had for each other. That seems dumb."

"You seem dumb." Kenma commented.

"We sirens mostly eat isopods, but we don't mind eating a human or two. Cannibalism isn't something uncommon in our species." He shrugged,"But mers seem to think differently of it, yet they are the ones killing each other for the right to mate, you didn't hear that from me though."

Kuroo didn't know how it led to this conversation, one minute they(mostly Kenma) were struggling to rip each other apart. The next minute Kenma was ranting about how awful mers were.

"And don't get me started on how they need a light to attract mates. Who even needs a mate to begin with? I could catch one just fine by myself without the help of a blue light."

"Uh huh..."

Kenma glared.

It looked funny really, with the siren's much smaller frame and round face,"Do you not believe me?"

"Oh, no, no, no. Of course I believe you!"

Kuroo laughed though, which truly made it seem like he didn't."It's just..."

"Just, what?"

"I think you wouldn't be most people's type."

That made Kenma mad.

"As if I would care what people think of me." The siren smirked,"Plus, someone's type doesn't matter until they hear the call."

Kuroo was curious on what the call was but after being summarized by Yahaba and Tooru on what happened he has a pretty strong guess. "Sure thing." He stood up and stretched, having his neck crack in the process. "Look. My friends and I really don't want any problems with you guys, we want you to heal quickly, so you can head home."

He glanced over at the siren ignoring his naked form, not that the siren seemed to mind either way.

Kenma seemed to think it over before nodding. He looked up through his thick lashes,"Ok. I will stay."

"Not like you had much of a choice-"

"Oh shut up!"
