Chapter 23: Christmas

Ursa wakes Christmas morning to a face in hers. She yelps and the face jerks back. "Dobby!" Ursa groans. "I didn't like that when I was little and I still do not like that now."

"Dobby is sorry miss." Dobby says. "Dobby only wanted to wish Miss Ursa 'Merry Christmas' and to give her a present."

"Everything alright Malfoy?" Pansy asks tiredly.

"Yeah, just Dobby." Ursa sits up and takes Dobby's hand. She drags him out to the common room. "I have a present for you too Dobby." Ursa summons her present to her hand. "Here." They exchange presents and Ursa opens hers to find socks. One sock is purple and has pattern of music notes. The other is green and black stripes. "Thank you Dobby."

"Dobby made them himself." Dobby says cheerfully. "He is buying wool from his wages. Dobby remembered Miss Ursa likes music and the black and green one is like Miss Ursa's family colors. Ursa puts them on and tears come to Dobby's eyes. Dobby opens his present to find a green scarf.

"I made it myself." Ursa says.

Tears fall from Dobby's eyes. "Dobby loves it Miss Ursa."

"What's that doing here?" Draco says as he walks into the common room. "Wait? Is that Dobby?" Dobby yelps and Apparates away.

"Damn it Draco." Ursa groans. "Why'd you scare him away."

"Oh Father is going to love this."

"You are not going to tell Father anything." Ursa snaps. "Father will kill him."

"Good."

"Draco please. You know he was my friend when we were little. He is still my friend."

"Fine. Let's open our presents."

They spend time opening their many presents. Narcissa sent Ursa a new velvet choker and Lucius sent her a gold necklace with a snake and green jewel on it. They both also sent her books and clothes.

At lunch, Ursa sits with her friends. "How was your morning?" Hermione asks.

"Got a rude awakening." Ursa replies.

"Dobby in your face too?" Harry asks.

"Yep, now imagine waking up to that most days. That was my childhood. I gave him a scarf I made."

"Oh Ursa. I got you a present." Hermione says.

"Oh you did not need to do that." Hermione places a present in front of her. She opens it to find a book on rare magical creatures. "Where did you find this?"

"I found it at the bookstore in Hogsmeade."

"Thank you." Ursa goes pink. "I may have gotten you something too." Ursa puts a small package in front of Hermione. "I was not sure what to get you. I hope you like it. I hope you do not already have it." Hermione opens the package to find a small book.

"The Pocket Guide to Arthmancy?" Hermione says. "I love it!" Ursa smiles.

"You're welcome. Ron I got you something too." Ursa puts a small package in front of him. "It's just some candy from Honeydukes."

"Thanks Ursa." Ron says with a mouthful of turkey.

"You're welcome." Ron and Hermione glance at Harry. "Sorry Potter. I do not have anything for you."

"Of course." Harry says.

"You have not given me any reason to gift you anything. Hermione and Ron have, even if Ron's is relatively recent."
