Ursa runs up to Hagrid outside his hut. "There yeh are, Ursa." Hagrid says.

"Sorry. Draco decided to pick a fight in Hogsmeade and we got caught by our parents that are here for the first task." Ursa replies.

"No problem." Lyra hoots from Hagrid's roof. "Well Lyra's been impatient. Come on. I want you to meet the Hippogriffs." Lyra flies down to Ursa's shoulder and they walk towards the forest.

"I've read a bit about them. Very prideful creatures."

"That they are. Do you know how to greet one?"

"Walk up slowly with eye contact and bow. If they don't bow back, run like hell." Hagrid laughs. "Wasn't it a Hippogriff that hurt Draco last year?"

"Yes, that was ole Buckbeak. I miss the fella"

"Knowing Draco, I'm probably right in assuming Draco got cocky and either purposely or accidentally insulted him."

"How'd yeh know?"

"My mother, Crabbe, and Goyle told me a bit. Otherwise it's cause I know Draco."

They get to the Hippogriff pen and Hagrid lets her in. She approaches one only for it to move towards her. It bows first. "That's never happened before."

"I am Clawhoof, Noble Phoenix." The Hippogriff says as Ursa bows back.

"Hello Clawhoof." Ursa says cautiously.

"How'd you know his name?" Hagrid asks.

"He told me." Ursa replies. "First Fawkes now this. Can I speak to animals? Ursa backs up to the pen gate. "I need to talk to Dumbledore. I'll explain everything later Hagrid. Lyra, owlery." Lyra takes off and Ursa runs towards the castle.

"Come in." Dumbledore says when Ursa knocks on his office door. Ursa opens the door and walks in. "Miss Malfoy."

"A Hippogriff just spoke to me." Ursa says as she walks up to his desk. "Called me 'Noble Phoenix.'"

"Pardon?"

"I help Hagrid for a few hours every weekend. He took me to meet the Hippogriffs today and one spoke to me. He approached me and bowed first. Called me 'Noble Phoenix.'"

"Ah. I was wondering when you would discover this. One of the powers or your condition is the ability to understand any magical species of bird or any magical species that are part bird. There may be other that have not been tested. As for the 'Noble Phoenix,' it appears some creatures can sense the phoenix inside you."

"The Hippogriffs call me 'Noble Phoenix' too." Fawkes says.

"I thought I could only understand Fawkes who just told me the Hippogriffs call him 'Noble Phoenix' too." Ursa says. "Does that mean I can understand Lyra, my owl?"

"Not in the same way." Dumbledore replies. "She can understand you more than she could understand another person. She and any nonmagical bird can understand what you're saying."

"So it is kind of flip-flopped for nonmagical birds?"

"Yes." Dumbledore pulls a book out of his desk and sets it on top of his desk. "I couldn't find much about your transformations, but I did manage to find a diary of one of your ancestor. They were like you and I believe it will answer your question about when you almost hurt Draco. They describe four events. The first event occurred the first time they transformed in which they shed feather. Like you they had their feather as their wand core. The second event, which is what I believe you experienced with Draco, occurred when they were startled right after landing, they noticed after that they could understand certain creatures. The third event will occur when you get extremely angry and snap at someone and you should be able to control your transformations after that. With the first three events, they felt more powerful after each one. The final event will come when you are betrayed by one you love. After that, you will be at full power." Dumbledore holds the book out to Ursa and she takes it. Ursa's bracelet starts glowing. "This hopefully can answer any other questions you have."
