Ana?”

Neil groaned and rested his forehead against mine in frustration.

“Are you kidding me?” he protested before I pulled away from him slightly and turned towards the gaping stranger.

Except it wasn’t a stranger.

“Luca?”

I saw him look around in panic as I continued to stare at him in confusion.

“Hey man,” Neil grinned at him, “How’s it going?”

“Go-good,” I saw him curse under his breath as his gaze kept flickering back to the starbucks across the street. My eyes narrowed at his obvious nervousness.

“Are you with, Mel?” I asked looking for my best friend’s familiar head of blonde hair.

“Er- I’m actually with my sister-”

“Hey babe!” I heard someone call. Luca closed his eyes in defeat as I felt Neil’s arms stiffen around me.

Luca! I got you your tea,” a pretty brunette came out of the coffee shop holding two steaming cups.

Anger.

That was what I felt in that moment.

“Oh, yes Luca, your lovely sister got you some fucking leaf water,” I spit out.

“Do-Don’t say anything. Sophie doesn’t know,” he begged.

The three of us became silent as the peppy girl came up to us and gave Luca a sweet kiss on the cheek. The tension was thick as Sophie looked as us warily in confusion.

“Who’s this?” She asked with a polite smile.

“Oh this is my friend Ne-”

“We aren’t friends,” Neil snapped in a cold tone. I shivered from the intense anger in his voice and I saw Luca flinch as Sophie awkwardly giggled.

“My name is Ana,” I plastered a fake smile on my face. “Luca is dating my best friend,” I said with a huge smile on my face.

“What?” Sophie’s expression became worried.

“Oh I’m sorry,” I looked down in mock correction, “Luca is cheating on my best friend.”

“What?” she whispered as Luca sighed and ran his hand down his face.

“Oh you didn’t know? That the boy you’re kissing has shoved his tongue down another girl’s throat not even seven hours ago?” Neil squeezed my arm in a warning but I didn’t care. I was pissed. “Did you also know that he’s in a committed relationship with that same girl? Something like almost seven months. Fancy that shit, huh?”

I began laughing maniacally as if it was the funniest thing in the world before my whole face changed and I felt my intense anger seep through my sarcasm.

“You’re fucking disgusting,” I spit as I pulled away from Neil completely. “How dare you? What the hell is wrong with you?!” I yelled at him. “You piece of shit! She loves you! God dammit-” I struggled as Neil began pulling me away.

“That’s enough,” he whispered in my ear.

“LET ME GO!” I yelled. Neil was practically carrying me away at this point. Still enraged I yelled over my shoulder, “GO EAT SHIT YOU FUCKING BASTARD!”
