❛this is real love❜
jack had listened to ellie's voicemail mutiple times the next day. her song was really about him. she loved him.
the moment jack realised this he got in his car and drove to ellie's apartment building. but now that jack was there he debated if he should go inside.
he hit his head on the steering wheel a few times and groaned at the pain shooting through his forehead.
it is now or never.
so jack got out of his car and entered ellie's apartment building. even though he had the keys to her apartment he still knocked on the door.
when her door opened it showed a tired and surprised ellie. she looked at jack, he could see the confusion written on her face. she stepped away from her doorway, silently telling jack to enter her apartment.
they both didn't say anything, ellie made them tea and they sat down in her living room. jack sat across from her on one of her chairs while she sat on the couch.
and before ellie could ask why jack was at her place he asked her the one question that he needed to ask her.
"is your song about me?" ellie closed her eyes and nodded her head. jack knew why ellie wasn't smiling at him, or hugging him telling him she loved him back. he knew she had always been scared of loving a person. she never told him she loved him, not even platonic.
"i'm scared, jack. why are you even here?" ellie raised her voice and continued talking. "if you don't like me that way you could have just texted me." jack chuckled at her words.
"i would have texted you if i did, really." this made ellie look at him. she slightly tilted her head, the words he said slowly started to make sense to her. "what?"
"you think i don't like you back, liz. but you're wrong. i do. i love you, elle." ellie felt her eyes fill with tears at jacks words. "you do?"
jack nodded and kept his eyes on ellie who walked over to him and wrapped her arms around his body. "i love you too, jack. i am so in love with you."
ellie's words wrapped around jack like a warm blanket, keeping his whole body warm. he carefully pulled ellie into his lap.
"hey, liz?" ellie hummed against his neck making a shiver go down his spine. "can i kiss you?"
ellie lifted her head out of the crook of jack's neck. jack had never seen such a genuine smile in his whole life. "yeah, you can."
so he did.
jack moved his one of his hands to the side of ellie's face and slowly pulled her face closer to his. and before they both knew it their lips connected.
after a few seconds they pulled away. ellie softly pressed her forehead against jacks, he gave her a quick kiss and also brought his other hand up to her face.
he studied every little detail that he had never noticed before, the little golden dots in her eyes, or all the small freckles on her nose. ellie just watched as jack took in every inch of her face. it made her so happy to see him like this, to know that he loved her too.
the rest of the night was spent by the two teens talking about their week. but instead of sitting on different sides of the couch, they were sitting in each other's arms. a movie was playing in the background but ellie and jack didn't pay any attention to it.
when ellie layed in bed that night she realised that sometimes things are worth taking a risk for, especially when it means that you can finally be with the person you were always supposed to be with, for the rest of your life.
