"What are we going to do!" I asked Joe worried
"It's fine" he replied, "I think I have just enough money to buy 2 plane tickets to the next port"
"Okay" I said
Joe put his arm around me and said "don't worry, it will all work out okay"
I felt a sigh of relief. We were trying to use as little money as possible to ensure we had enough for plane tickets so we caught the bus.
We arrived at the airport, ran in and looked for the nearest flight to the next port. It was leaving in an hour. Joe went up and bought tickets. He spent ages searching through all his pockets for money. I soon joined in until we had enough. They gave us our boarding passes and told us to get our passports ready. We walked up and were asked to show them. I started to panic, I didn't bring it. Joe had a copy on an app on his phone. Who knew you could do that now?
"Mam" the man asked
"Uhh uh" I said panicking and looking kinda suspicious
"Do you have a passport or not"
"Argh no" I said
"Your not allowed to fly without a passport"
Another man came over and said "mam, you are requested in the interrogation room"
I was so scared but I went with them anyway
A man basically just asked me questions about not having a passport and making me feel like a criminal. I was too worried about being left by Joe. A man pointed and directed him through and he walked. I didn't expect him to go. I thought he was better than that. I could feel a tear roll down my face. A few more questions later and I was free( but still not allowed to fly)
I was preparing and planning about what I was going to do next. I felt like I was stranded all alone in Alaska by myself. I started calling Joe several times but there was no answer. I heard the final boarding call for our flight. I went and sat down in the corner and started crying. I heard my name "Cora, cora" In a hot British voice
I looked up and it was Joe holding some brown paper bags
"Sorry" he said "I was hungry so I went and bought some McDonalds. I got yo with relief and hugged him, even though I felt like punching him in the face. "Cora" he said mid hug
"What??" I Said
"I got you a happy meal"
I looked at him, grabbed the box and laughed. But seriously though it sucked, we were stranded. We started walking and I said "so why didn't you answer your phone, I called you like a million times" "oh yeah" Joe replied, "I accidentally dropped it in the toilet, so I'm screwed as well"
