The Affair

Dinner

Katherine is preparing dinner. Tonight she is cooking steak and baked potatoes. Natalie's eyes are glued to the tv.

"Natalie, can you turn off the tv and help me with dinner?"

"Mommy, just let me finish this episode of spongebob." Natalie says. Katherine doesn't like her children watching tv all day, but she's not in the mood to argue because her and Brad haven't been getting along. They fight all the time, and it usually results in him sleeping on the couch, or her not talking to him for the rest of the night. She's trying to save her marriage, so she is cooking his favorite dinner.

Brad wallis into the house with a special guest, Renee. Katherine looks up and sees Brad with Renee. She remembers Renee from a couple weeks ago, but she never got her name. Katherine quickly rinses off her hands.

"Hi I'm Katherine." Katherine says extending her hand. Renee takes her hand and shakes it with a generous smile.

"I'm Renee."

"Honey, I'm sorry I didn't call, and tell you we were having a guest." Brad says.

"It's ok. Good thing I made extra." Katherine said. "Excuse me." She says and walks over to Natalie.

"Natalie, can you go get your sister?"

"Yes, m'am." Natalie says and runs up stairs. Katherine turns off the tv and then proceeds back to the kitchen. She places the food onto everyone's plate. She wanted to be a chef, but when she got pregnant in the summer before college, she decided not to go. But soon after college started she had a miscarriage and decided not to go. Natalie and natasha come down and everyone sits down.

"Renee, you can sit right here." Brad days pointing to the seat next to him. Renee sits down, but Natasha is still standing, why?

"I guess I'll sit here now." Natasha said referring to the seat by Natalie. Renee sat in her seat, but it wasn't that. It was that her father told her she could sit there.

"So, Renee, how long have you lived in New York?" Katherine ask.

Katherine is putting dishes into the dishwasher with Natasha. She looks in the direction of the living room and sees Renee and Brad looking at pictures. Throughout the whole dinner, she thought she could see them holding hands, and she was for sure that they were flirting. She's starting to wonder if her husband was being faithful. Her and Natasha finish putting the dishes away and then they head into the living room.

"I'm going to walk Renee outside to her car." Brad says.

"Ok, nice to meet you." Katherine replies.

"You too." Renee says and they walk outside.

"Girls, do you guys want to get frozen yogurt?" Katherine ask and the girls scream yes. "Ok, go wait in the car. I'll be out there soon."

The girls walk outside and see their father kissing..... Renee.
