Chaos reined. In every story there has to be a happy ending. In every story there was a hero. In every story the good people would win but not this time. Clara found herself battered and bruised a cloud of negativity hung low over her head, sending strikes of lighting down toward her. A sharp reminder of the pain surrounding her in every step she made. The thunder rumbled and the rain hammered down across the desolate city of her mind. She knew that it was unfair to give up this quickly yet it seemed like the only valid option. They finally got there headline and she was certain it would be one of woe and fear.
Clara sat crammed onto a window ledge in the Jacobs household. The plain brown walls encasing her in a tight box, the only view out was the wasteland that was spread outside of the cracked window. Rain splattered down onto the the uneven cobbles of the streets. Every splash making a sharp indent in her head as she tried to block out what had happened earlier on that day.
Once the brawl had come to a close the young journalist clung onto the Kelly boy, both there hearts beating in sync, the loud thumping blundering into each others ears.
Until he handed her over to Davy and made a run for it.
"I promise it's for your safety, I can't loose you to" he muttered as he slowly slipped out of Claras outstretched hands. The girl hasn't seen him since.
Letting out a huge sigh Clara made her way down the Rickety stairs hobbling slightly as she did so. Once she reached the bottom of the crumbling wooden hill her face was met with one of sympathy and frustration. A tiresome Davy was stood at the end of the corridor, to broken to even bring his eyes up to meet the young girl. He simply motioned towards the dining room a sad smile gracing his face.
There was nothing to portray the deep feelings of the two cousins except emptiness. They were lost in a dark rooted inferno, contradicting thoughts filled up the space as depressing ideas twisted there way into there once sharp minds.
All is not fair in love and war.
Taking her seat next to les- Clara unfolded her napkin and placed it down on her lap. It covered up some of the mud stains that still lay on the skirt, they were constant reminders of how fast and how easy it is to loose it all. Dinner was silent, only the brief clangs of knifes colliding with the plates could be heard through out the meal. The evening was silent to, all 3 of the cousins had immersed them selves in the world of fiction, a way of escaping the harsh realities that lay outside the front door. The words of Louisa May Alcott flooded her head as she learned the story of Jo and her 3 other sisters. A story of love and of feminism, Clara often wondered how the world would be if it was fair. The earth was a place made for men, a place where as a girl you could have no education, no rights. A man in a room full of women would be ecstatic yet a women in a room full of men would be terrified. She hated it.

The time was now 8pm, the journalist lay in her bed watching the ceiling, the noise of the street below calling her name. Various shouts and wails of whistles rattled off the tall buildings enticing her out into the world. yet she stayed. Comfortable and alone.
a gentle knock came into ear shot as Davy walked into the cramped room "ma was wondering whether you'd like some coco?" He muttered lying down next to the girl, staring at the ceiling Davy yawned. "I'm alright" Clara replied
"I thought you'd say that"
"Today was a lot wasn't it?" Clara sighed, both sides of the conversation knew exactly what she was talking about
"Yes" he mumbled "we will find a way though, we have to"
Clara nodded a soft smile forming on her lips, an expression that she had not met in a long time.
"Seize the day Davy Jacob's"
The striker laughed under his breath a soft expression lying across his face. "you know I've noticed there's something going on with you recently, wanna bet that it has something to do with a certain jack Kelly?"
Claras breath hitched in her throat at the unexpected question, a faint rose tint was rising upward along her pale cheeks. Trying to play of the sudden wave of heat she rolled her eyes "and to think we were about to have a heartfelt moment with one another." Clara stated as she laughed along.
"You never denied it Clara"
"But I never said yes either"
Truly, she didn't have an answer for her eager cousin because she wasn't so sure herself. She had only known Jack for a few weeks but it felt like they had been in each others presence for ever. A relationship like that was hard to find and Clara was going to make sure she could treasure it for as long as she was able. Jack Kelly was the diamond in the rough.
"Come on we need rest, I said we would meet the fellas at jacobis in the morning- see the update on our headline"
"I doubt mine and katherine's article will get any attention now"
"Just you wait, slow progress is still progress and with a killer headline such as yours we are inescapable"
