SANTA FE
MY LOVE MY LIFE===================================
This mornings exciting events lead to nothingness and Clara found herself aimlessly wondering the streets of New York for the afternoon. Quite some time had passed before Clara stumbled across a beautiful and grand theatre. It's tall towers reaching up into the sky, covered in the most delicate architecture. A large sign that read "miss medas theatre" was spread across the front in bold and fancy font, emphasising the flamboyance of the building. Making her way up the small flight of steps to the double doors Clara wondered what lay inside the building, it was intriguing to her.Slowly she reached out to grab open the door but found it had already been opened, the rusty wooden frame hanging slightly ajar, a world of mystery laying inside. Splatters of paint also covered some of the royal red carpet that was sprawled across the floor, leading a pathway straight toward some doors on the other side of grand entry way. Almost as if they where teasing her, enticing her to come in. It worked. Quickening her paces she walked faster toward the door and flung it open.
On the other side she was faced with a wonderland. She was alice, the red carpet was the rabbit and the doors the gateway to her own place of euphoria. A grand ceiling covered in paintings was sprawled out across the large theatre, a delicate chandelier dangling below covered in hundreds of tiny crystals glinting in the faint light of the room. Seats lined up like soldiers preparing for war one after the other all facing toward the grand stage- Waiting patiently for there commander to come out and perform.
On the stage stood a figure, next to the figure a large painting and on the painting was her home. Claras heart lept into her throat as she quietly waltzed down the aisles of the theatre, getting curiouser and curiouser as to who and what this was. Not realising how fast her pace had quickened Clara caught the edge if her heel on her dress, stumbling forward creating a rather loud thud as her feet came into collision with the blood red carpet below- catching her fall.
"Oh balls you idiot Clara"
"Clara?"
She new that voice from anywhere, It was her Jack. She had found him. "What are you doing here?" He questioned rather flustered at the girls sudden presence. He wished to be alone but being around Clara made him feel something so new yet so lovely and he never wanted to get rid of it. "I could ask you the same thing Mr Kelly" Clara retorted. The young boy grunted whilst chucking a paint brush into a pot that stood among many other pieces artists equipment. "I thought you said you weren't much of an artist" she questioned further. "I'm not, it just helps me think" Jack replied smiling lopsidedly at Clara, offering her a hand up onto the stage. She took it almost immediately, slipping her dainty fingers into his. Eyes lingering onto each others a little longer than they should have.
Claras cheeks flushed a deep shade of pink as she made her way over toward the impressive painting. "This is really incredible Jack" she muttered under her breath so quietly that he could barely hear her compliments even though the young journalist wanted nothing more than for him to know how deeply she cared about him. Clara felt a presence behind her as the Kelly boy came closer, His breath leaving chills along her neck. They both stayed silent taking a moment to bask in the peace they shared with one another. "Is it Santa Fe?" Clara asked nervously as she heard jacks breath hitch in his throat at the girls knowledge. "you know it?" He asked urging her forward with her story.
"It's where I'm from"
The boy now moved to face Clara, a look of wonder upon his face. His dream was here right in front of him, he did not need to travel far and wide for she was here. Right here. It took all his might not to sweep the girl off her feet right then and there. To take her away and love her for ever. But how could he know she felt the same, time will have to tell.
"So what made you come here then?" Jack asked softly wanting her to tell him more
"Well, I used to live here, a long time ago" she began turning away to face to picture once again. "But then when my father passed, my mother and I thought it would be best to take all our luggage and run away to Santa Fe" Clara continued laughing under her breath, reaching out to run her hand along the painting.
"Now that I think back on it the idea was utterly ridiculous, if you keep moving to run away from your problems, you'll never be happy at all. Hence why I'm back- ready to start again."
Jack remained in silence unaware of what to do or say so all he did was take her hand off the painting and place it back in his, giving it a soft squeeze. Clara turned her head toward him a soft expression on her face. "I'm sorry about what happened with your fadder" Jack said quietly "but I'm also really glad your here". Claras smile grew wider as she searched the blue shirted boys eyes for answers "me to" she replied.
" I mean standing here with you, I wish I could just pause time and it be just us instead of worrying about what's going on outside"
"I promise it will be okay"
"But what if tomorrow comes and changes everything?"
"It won't because something about you made me feel a Little more alive and a far less lost- we met for a reason"
Jack smiled down at his Clara, finding comfort in her words a sudden wave of confidence hit the young boy as he started to lean forward. Clara reciprocated the movements- heat building up inside her cheeks. Heart pounding faster and faster, until it just stopped. Thoughts of anxiety flooded her mind, she wasn't good enough, she could never be good enough. As fast as a lion hunting it's prey she turned bright red and looked down at the floor, stepping away. She wasnt as ready as she thought she was.
"Sorry" she muttered before turning on her heel and quickly making her way out through the wings, Launching herself out of the fire escape. What had she done?
She had ruined it all
Clara was never one to run away from a challenge, yet the fear of messing it all up overtook her in a sudden rage and bursted her heart into tiny smithereens. Staring out over the peaceful city below, her mind whirred at a million miles per hour. She should have done it, why didn't she do it? She loved the boy for Christ sake. She loved him and it took her swerving a kiss to realise it. She wanted to spend all her time around him. All the quick glances and butterflies suddenly made sense, it was all for a reason. Building up all the confidence she could possibly muster Clara turned back around again to enter the theatre.
Fuck it
waking back out through the wings, she caught the off guard boys attention a sad expression now resting on his face. Removing his hat to reveal his messy brown hair underneath- he also walked toward the girl. "You forget somethin?" Jack asked abruptly, a slight hint of pain in his voice.
"Yes"
and with that she strode up to the boy and cupped his face in her small hands before pressing her lips gently onto his. Jack was taken by surprise at the sudden movement but quickly melted into the kiss smiling as they became closer. What Clara had longed to do for so long was finally coming true, there were no fireworks, just pure bliss as the two became one. Eventually, they pulled apart staring deeply at one another as if trying to remember every single inch of each others faces. "You sure do like to create a scene don't you?" Jack laughed under his breath
"yes but you love it though"
"I do"
