Dream was already half awake when he heard his phone buzzing on the bedside table, rubbing the sleep from his eyes before reaching clumsily for the device. When the phone was finally in his hand, screen illuminating his face, he saw Sapnap's name, quickly remembering that he told Sapnap he would help him with his mysterious task that day.
And while he wanted nothing more than to stay in bed, curled up with George in his arms, he knew that he owed Sapnap one. So he went to move, but found one of George's arms wrapped tightly around his torso, face nuzzled against Dream's shoulder as he slept.
Dream smiled, brushing strands of brown hair out of George's face before pressing a soft kiss to his forehead, his hand moving to stroke his cheek as he quietly said, "George, wake up."
He saw George's lashes flutter just slightly, his head moving as he snuggled in even closer to the blonde. Dream laughed quietly, thumb stroking George's cheek again as he said, "George, come on. I need to get up, I promised Sapnap I'd help him with something today."
George shook his head slightly, his words quiet and mumbled as he answered, "no, I want you to stay here with me."
"I won't be gone long, I promise," Dream responded, but George was persistent, the arm around the blonde's torso only tightening as he shook his head again.
Dream sighed, but there was a smile on his face as he muttered, "can never make things easy for me, can you, baby?"
He moved his hand to grip George's wrist, fingers wrapping around tightly before he began to pull the brunette's arm off of him. George tried to fight it, but in his half asleep state, Dream was able to move him with ease, rolling out of the bed with a triumphant grin.
George groaned in frustration, burying himself under the blankets as Dream leaned back over the bed, one hand planted on the mattress, the other pulling back the blankets to expose George's face. He gripped George's jaw in one hand, tilting the brunette's face towards him, George's eyes finally fluttering open to meet Dream's gaze.
Dream smiled as George looked up at him, his eyes still hazy with sleep as the blonde said, "I'll be back soon, okay?"
George nodded just slightly, his voice quiet as he mumbled, "fine, but gimme a kiss at least."
Dream hummed happily, warmth pooling in his chest as he leaned down and caught George's lips in a soft kiss. He was smiling before he even pulled out of the kiss, and George gave a small smile of his own as he mumbled a quiet, "love you."
Dream leaned in again to press a quick kiss to the tip of George's nose, his voice gentle as he responded, "love you too, baby."
Then he was straightening back up, laughing quietly as he watched George cocoon himself in the blankets, eyes closing as he quickly drifted back off to sleep.
Fighting the urge to just crawl back into bed with George, Dream went ahead and got ready for the day; brushing his teeth and taking a quick shower. He wasn't sure what they were going to be doing, so he pulled on a casual outfit of jeans, black vans, and a loose black sweater.
Now, he was standing in the kitchen, leaning back against the counter as he ate a bowl of cereal. He was just spooning the last bite into his mouth when he felt his phone vibrating in his pocket, hand sliding in to pull it out and see that Sapnap was calling him.
He pressed down on the screen, accepting the call before holding the phone up to his face and answering, "Sapnap, hey."
"Hey," Sapnap answered quickly, and Dream instantly noted that he sounded off, and definitely more nervous than usual.
