Things were normal for Dream and George for the next few days, and they spent their time at home together; watching movies, cooking, and playing with Patches. The only reminder of what had happened in the previous days was the fading bruises on Dream's hand and the faint outline of a scar that ran across one of his knuckles.
But even those would fade completely, and Dream could only hope that it would take the bad memories with it.
The week was just coming to an end now, and Dream was sitting across from George at the kitchen table. George's attention was focused down on his laptop, his brow furrowed in concentration because he was facing the daunting task of searching for a job now that they had graduated college. He had an ongoing list of places he wanted to apply to, while Dream had barely even started his own search.
Instead, Dream had Minecraft open on his laptop, keeping all of the sounds muted so that George wouldn't get suspicious. His lower lip was caught between his teeth in concentration as he played, holding his breath because he was fighting the enderdragon and his health was dangerously low. Before he could even think to heal himself, the dragon killed him, and he leaned back in his chair as he yelled, "no! Come on!"
The sudden noise startled George, and his eyes shot up from his own laptop, a confused look on his face as he asked, "what's wrong?"
"Oh, nothing," Dream responded quickly, "I just lost connection from the wifi."
He inhaled as soon as he said the words, knowing it was a dumb lie even as George's eyes narrowed, the confused look on his face giving way to suspicion as he responded, "oh really? Because my connection is fine, Dream."
Dream felt the corners of his lips pull up into a guilty smile that he tried to hide, his hands moving to try and exit out of the game as quickly as he could. But George was too fast, getting up and circling the table to see the game on the blonde's screen before he could close it.
George swatted at his shoulder lightly as he said, "Dream, you're seriously playing Minecraft right now? We're supposed to be looking for jobs."
Dream smiled up at him, wrapping his arms around the brunette's waist and pulling him down into his lap, his face burying in George's neck as he mumbled, "I know, but I got bored. It's your fault anyway, you're the one who showed me how to play Minecraft."
Dream didn't need to look up to know that George had most likely given him a playful eyeroll, his voice light and teasing as he answered, "yeah, I didn't realize you'd get so obsessed with it. I regret it already."
"I'm not obsessed," Dream muttered back, smiling before littering kisses all over George's neck.
George giggled at this, moving in Dream's arms as he tried to get away, but Dream only tightened his grip around his waist, keeping him where he was as he said, "just give up, you're not going anywhere, George."
George groaned, but Dream saw the smile on his face as he leaned back in his chair. And George did give up, settling comfortably in Dream's arms as he rested his head against his shoulder. Dream hummed happily, leaning down and kissing his forehead before smiling down at him.
George returned the smile, eyes cast up towards Dream as he said, "you know you can't do this every time, Dream. At some point, we need to find jobs."
Dream huffed out a breath, but he nodded anyway as he answered, "yeah, I know. I actually wanted to talk to you about that."
George kept his eyes on him, keeping quiet so that Dream could continue, "when I was at one of my recovery meetings the other day, one of the counselors mentioned that they were looking to hire someone new. She said that I would be a good fit for it."
