"So as the first day as your friend, I am taking you on a platonic date" Yeonjun announces correctly at four pm when Kai just wraps his work and steps out of the café. Huening Kai croons in embarrassment when the other worker from inside hoots at him, 'Platonic huh Kai! Have fun"
The giggles provokes him to throw throw the metal tissue holder at him, fortunately or unfortunately the guy ducks in time to avoid his head being broken.
"So.." Yeonjun trails off and Kai shakes his head, "no, I am busy today. Kids will be here for their music lessons" He says stiffly and expects a question first, but nothing comes.
He looks up and sees Yeonjun smiling like a goof. "I already asked Beomgyu about you, so that I don't do anything to make you uncomfortable." "Uhm That's kinda creepy Yeonjun" He makes a queer face walking away.
Yeonjun of course follows him, swiftly walking by his side, "Oh was it? I am sorry I did not want to mess it up" He sheepishly grins. Kai feels good at the statement but maintains a poker face, which he is excellent at. "Yeah it was, see you" he keeps it curt and short and stalks away.
"Hey wait! How about after your classes? I'll pick you up!" Yeonjun offers and Kai gives an eye roll in return but doesn't say anything. "I'll be there at six then!" He screams and runs in front of Kai shooting finger guns at him and then getting on his bike and driving off.
Huening Kai scoffed at the male, he obviously isn't going to open his door or go anywhere or do anything at all with Yeonjun. He isn't letting those feelings resurface again not when all the time Yeonjun just watches him from the sidelines.
He will have to divert his attention, his sole reason now is to gather money for his grandmother's surgery. The reason why he works in a café, despite being a music teacher.
It pays him enough, but with the new task on his hand he needs more money, life would have been much more peaceful if he lived in Daegu but in Seoul cost of living is as high as they come and Kai cannot move suddenly too because of the situation around him.
After he gets the surgery done, he is planning on moving to Daegu too and it helps Beomgyu is from the region. He would be able to guide him in so many ways, obviously he wouldn't be able to see his friends but he can always go forth and back on a weekend to visit them.
He opens the door of his house and out of habit greets his grandmother with a cheek kiss.
"Oh kai you are back! I tried to make some Tteokbokki but it did not turn out properly I think I am sorry" She sheepishly grins and Kai immediately scans for her any injuries with a frown.
"Grans I told you not to do all this, you could have hurt yourself. Grans seriously" He scolds her lightly taking her hands into his, despite the concern his touch is soft.
"I am a strong woman, don't worry about me kiddo! and I get bored being all alone while you go work like an ox and I just wanted my grandson to have some food is that a bad thing?" She huffs and crosses her arms.
"Sorry grans but still, just a little longer yeah? After the cataract surgery we can move to Daegu and you will be able to meet all your friends again" He soothes her, feeling a little bad for her.
"Hmph" She turns away from him and he chuckles at her, "It's time for your medicine grans and then you can sleep for a little while, I have classes now" He says and carefully walks her into the bedroom, he gives her the prescribed pills and glass of water, then makes her lie on the bed and drapes the blanket over her.
"Don't forget eat some food, I already ate the lunch you prepared for me and be safe kid. Teach your students properly" She says and he grins, "Yeah yeah, you take rest now. I'll see you later"
Kai is an average cook, so the Tteokbokki did not come out that bad, it was edible and that's what all mattered. The kitchen had been somewhat messy from his grandmother's attempt at cooking while sporting cataract.
He cleaned that up soon and took his own sweeet time in the shower. A little piece in his mind sang to him that he just wanted to look presentable for Yeonjun but he discarded the thought away. He was doing it for himself and no one else.
After throwing on a baby blue shirt and tucking it in white slacks. He spent another thirty minutes finding his favorite perfume, it was citrus flavored one and Kai loved it.
It had a soft scent of rose and the sharp scent of lemon in a perfect blend. He sprayed it on his wrists and applied it on his neck, slipping on black shoes and wrapping a watch around his left wrist, he combed his hair and he was ready to go.
The class ended smoothly, save for a few the others were attentive and curious making it interesting for Kai himself too.
But what he doesn't expect is when a girl from the class giggles shyly after the class is over and approaches him, she hands him a letter with a red daisy and runs away not even looking him in the eye.
He blinks twice before looking at the note, now his sleeves are rolled up, it was hot and so Kai had rolled up his sleeves until just below his elbow, the pink letter has been stuck with glittery stars and hearts, it has his name written in calligraphy.
He opens the letter, and the first line, 'Sir, you have been teaching us for so long and you are the sweetest person I have met-" He stops reading there.
He dumps the card into the trash can on his way home but holds onto the daisy, because it didn't have any fault in the thing pulled. He is their teacher and he is gay as they come, what the hell is wrong with kids these days.
He sighs slowly, just because he is lenient and young they can't pull shit on him like that, he needs to set up boundaries tomorrow.
Twirling the daisy in his long and dainty fingers, he hums to himself, the fallen leaves scrunching beneath his shoes. He soon is in the same neighborhood, and he slowly walks towards his house.
It's evening and the sky is painted in a hue of beautiful blues and purples and streaks of orange.
He fiddles with a key for a few seconds before pushing it into the key hole and what next happens causes him to shriek and drop the flower on the ground.
Yeonjun pops out of nowhere grinning impishly, and greets him with a breathless hi. Hueningkai is clutching his chest heaving, "WHAT THE FUCK YEONJUN I ALMOST HAD AN HEART ATTACK YOU IDIOT" he yells and he is sure the entire street heard him. How embarrassing.
"Sorry" Yeonjun pouts and Kai has to rip his eyesight from the expression to calm his poor heart. This fucker has no idea what he does, the worst thing? he doesn't remember Kai.
"So the date?" Kai doesn't say anything and enters the house, Yeonjun blinks but the opened door is perceived as an greeting and he follows the taller.
___________
So how are y'all doing Bonbons? Will Kai agree to the date?
