"The instructions for our first round lie in front of you, please give them a read" A man around his thirties announces from a small stage, his voice surprisingly smooth, a total contrast to the rugged handsomeness he carries in the face.
Clearly a half Korean, he wears a clean black suit, with neatly polished shoes. He has a dimpled smile and pearly white, Huening Kai is pleased and awed at the same time and also the sweet introduction given at first impressed him.
"You will have a pre round for the selections for the game" He announces again, this time his eyes directly finding Kai's and giving him a dimpled smile.
Kai finally snaps out of his daze and buries his head in the small booklet of rules of all four challenges they were about to face. From how hot he feels, Kai is pretty sure he is rivalling a beetroot.
However that soon fades when he actually reads the first challenge is, well he and Yeonjun are blissfully fucked. It's an escape room but romanticized with the normal gory elements mellowed down. This is going to be a hot mess and Kai is sure of it.
He is too lazy and dumb for escape room and Yeonjun is as bad as him, if not even more. How does Kai know, well he happened to be in the school and having crush on the blue head helped him figure out that Yeonjun isn't that bright.
Sometimes he felt like an equal, perhaps why he felt comfortable liking the older despite the flashy elements and the ocean wide status difference.
He jumps out of skin when a flash of blue appears over his shoulder and whispers in his ear, he hears laughter and of course its the devil himself. He seemed awfully cheery after he found out who Kai was, understanding the guy was seriously out of his league. He would never know what runs in that pretty little mind.
"Kamal! How can you leave your lovely boyfriend alone? " He gasps as if Kai had something scandalous and he gets a brief eye roll as his reply, but not discouraged in the slightest he slings his arm around the broad shoulders of his supposed 'lover' and presses himself to the boy in the pretense of reading the booklet.
Huening Kai's breath hitches at the proximity but the boy hums as if he isn't affected. Maybe the fucker isn't, but he also knows how much power he holds for Kai from the barely visible smirk he holds.
He grits his teeth but then again swallows it down for the sake of their act. "An escape room huh? This is just right up my valley" Yeonjun mutters with a cocky smile and Kai scoffs.
"Who are you kidding? After especially finding that I knew you Yeonjun" He says annoyed but also concerned, on how were they going to pass this round. "Hey you are just insulting me and also I am a changed man" Yeonjun pouts and Kai bristles at the sight. Not that he would ever find that cute.
"Time's up folks! Now for the pre round, you have to recognize your partners by their hands, while being blindfolded." The man announces and they line up in the instructed order, reluctantly Kai lets Yeonjun intertwine their hands but he glares and blushes slightly when the blue haired demon presses a kiss on his knuckles. The audacity of this man.
Huening Kai stands at the last, next to him the other five stand and they are all shorter than Kai so he feels a little awkward. The person next to him is really cute he observes, "Thanks, you are really cute too" well fuck, Kai must have said it aloud. "You did" The boy giggles and Kai goes red squeaking out a small apology.
"I am Brian by the way" He introduces himself and Kai nods taking the handshake presented, "Huening Kai" he says and the boy beams. "You have really pretty hands by the way" The boy complements and Kai grins shyly thanking the cute male.
"Oh is that blue head your boyfriend" Brian asks with huge round eyes. He turns his head and sure enough Yeonjun is looking at him intensely without blinking, it freaks him a little but his stupid heart manages to flip at that too.
His organ must be malfunctioning, if it starts giving attention at all the small thing Yeonjun does.
"Yes" He manages to squeak out remembering that he still hasn't replied to the man beside him. The man looks at him with a knowing look and coos.
"You guys are so cute, he hasn't lifted his eyes off you even for a single moment" He grins and the knowing glint is still there,Kai himself doesn't know what that should mean nonetheless he gives a polite smile in return.
"And yours is?" He asks and the man points to a silver haired man, hella attractive if he might add. "That's my dork, he is Eun" he smiles fondly, this 'Eun' catches his eyes and sends a wink his way.
Kai cringes internally but also a part of him feels sad that he doesn't have a relationship, not an honest one at least.
The game begins and goes on eventfully, two of them fail to identify their partners. One of them even picks Kai as his partner and he just smiles awkwardly when the guy removes the blindfold and gawks at him clearly upset on getting it wrong.
Yeonjun seems to be going next and Kai feels just a little nervous at that.
He isn't sure if they can play and actually escape the room, but it would be nice to get selected he thinks. Regardless of if they loose and it will give extra points, better disguise and a step closer to the prize money.
If there is anything else like a fickle thing like it would be nice if Yeonjun recognizes him is totally not true and Kai absolutely does not wish that.
He watches with his breath held in, Yeonjun slowly progresses with the black blindfold on, "Good luck to you both" Brian whispers from the far end, since they shuffle after one participates so that there is no cheating involved.
He gives an awkward thumbs up, this time he is right in the middle. There are three people to his left from where Yeonjun starts.
Yeonjun stops at the second contestant for a second, and Kai sucks a breath in. But then sighs and sags down like a sack of potatoes when the boy moves past her.
Soon he is standing in front of Kai and boy is his heart running a marathon. He delicately takes his hand and caresses them. So this is how he felt their hands, he feels a tinge of jealousy which he would rather die than admit it.
Yeonjun then grins and confidently shouts, "Those are my Boyfriend's beautiful hands alright" He shouts and Huening Kai turns red at the giggles and attention on him.
Leave it to Yeonjun to embarrass him in a crowd of strangers. The host lets out an appreciative laugh and points out that yes indeed he is. Yeonjun being the overdramatic person he is, plants a huge kiss on the boy's cheek and hugs.
Huening Kai returns it with a constipated face and is thankful when people don't comment on it. And out of the two people remaining one manages to get it correct while the other fails. So the selected couples are Brain and Eun, the two women Yeonjun encountered in the dinner and himself and Yeonjun.
They have three chits in a box, all the three hold different setting that their game should carry in, Kai hopes they get the Christmas themed one cause that feels easier to the jungle themed one.
And since it is romanticized to fit the whole 'couple' game he isn't sure what to expect in a fucking jungle setting.
Yeonjun insists Kai to draw the chit and he denies, he is practically forced by the darn blueberry to pick the draw.
He picks the blue chit, and the other two pick green and yellow respectively and guess what?
Apparently Huening Kai's luck hates him and that's for sure because he ends up in a more haunting setting than Jungle and that happens to be the historical Egyptian setting.
Sharing a panicked glance with Yeonjun, he decides that they are thoroughly doomed.
