It starts off small. Barely noticeable, even.In fact, the very phenomemon that would soon set off a carnage, a hell reign upon mankind coincidentally starts off as the same as many other parasites that ever ceased to exist on planet Earth; passable. Not even worth the ruckus.
It was small on its own ways, so pathetically little and doesn't even worth being scruntinised even when physical symptoms were presenting. People being affected by it simply brushed it off, accusing it as 'common cold' and whatnot when it becomes bothersome. They don't bother to schedule check-ups at nearby clinics nor hospitals for further information— simply letting the sickness to 'heal on their own', as many other cases would.
Those morons were so convinced by their own speculation based on what little evidence they possessed. After all, the disease is probably not worth looking into.
Right?
If only they knew, that is certainly not the case.
The first monster, now publicly dubbed as 'Devils' by the public for its horrific nature and origin, made its first debut in Musutafu, Japan. It claimed its first victim brutally, without any form of mercy shown. The victim themself, being none of the wiser, fully succumbed to the disease the very moment it was presented— as there was no medication nor vaccine to prepare them for it.
He was a man. A simple yet unfortunate man.
His name was Hori Kansei, and Hori was a rather relatively normal man if it weren't for the fact he had just consumed his own mother, Aoi Kansei, and sister, Eri, during his final moments; caninbalising them down to the bone, leaving nothing but ashened remains of the two women the moment forensic team arrived to inspect the crime scene.
Hori was a convenient store cashier at your local 7-11, thriving of his prime years in full health as he neither drink nor smoke. Hori would've celebrated his sister's 18th birthday when he noticed his health has been declining. However, he refused to get any sort of treatment in fear for the bills might be stacking up.
Hori was saving whatever left of his paycheck to buy a smartphone for his sister. He didn't get to spoil her much due to their never-ending financial woes, thanks to his father who was an alcholic and abusive *hakkomori before died due to heart-related dieases not a year ago, leaving them nothing but piled-up expenses and debt.
Hori knew that if he were to go to the clinic at such a dire time, then all of his savings that he has since he was 19 would go down the drain— thus, he neglected his health altogether.
For days had passed, his health begins to deteriorate even worse and worse, causing him to eventually lose his job as he no longer able to wake up nor return within curfew. Consumed by depression over his own failure in maintaining his family, regardless of aspect, the poor man had shut the whole world out due to over-bearing grief and mental instability.
Hori was angered that no one helped his family; that no relatives ever come by and visited, checking upon his mother who was literally at death's doorstep. He was angry at his neighbours who never bothered to open their doors when his sister came pounding, begging for help and aid.
Moreover, he was specifically angry at himself for letting this happens in the first place.
That was, unfortunately, the last thing he had felt before he was thoroughly beaten by the parasite that resided within him.
