We exited the suv and walked towards a trailer, while I also held an umbrella to help block out as much of the sun out that I could.
'I'd rather Texan weather then this.'
"What tougher questions can we ask without Angela being here?" Temperance asked.
"Well, you know, things like, did her boyfriend run off with the model, guide, whatever." He told
"Angela and I discussed this with Ashley. She said it couldn't happen."
"Okay, no offense to Angela, but she doesn't even really know this guy. She's only with him what, only three weeks out of the year?"
"Not all relationships are black and white, Seeley. If their relationship works for the three weeks of a year then it works for them."
"Like your one to talk! You and Zack have that weird relationship."
"We are good friends! There's nothing wrong with the way we act!" I told making Temperance jump in to defend me.
"No offense to you, but you are a stodgy traditionalist when it comes to relationships, buddy." She told making us high five.
"Stodgy? Stodgy? Okay, okay, here's the deal-" he began only for Doc to cut him off.
"Yes, stodgy." She told as we arrived at the door of the trailer.
"Here's the deal, Bones. We find out that the skull isn't Kirk. We go home. We let the locals handle it, okay?"
"Of course." She told when I felt someone approaching us.
"You know what? You say 'Of course.' But then you get all caught up in it. And then-"
Though he was cut off due to me quickly grabbing my gun and aiming it towards the man holding a rifle towards us, as well as Doc tapping him on the shoulder causing him to turn.
"What? Oh." He told once he realised what was happening so he raised his hands.
"Put the gun down!" The man told
"Not till you put yours down first." I stated.
'I told Zack I'd be careful after the Kenton incident, and now I'm here with this situation.'
"What do you want?" He questioned.
"F.B.I. We're looking for Dahni Webber." Seeley stated.
"Who're you?" Doc asked
"I'm the guy holding the big gun."
"Yeah and I'm the gal holding a gun towards you." I told pulling the release back but keeping my finger off the trigger.
"Yeah, on the federal agent, which I've been very nice about so far." Seeley told.
"Let's rush him. He can't shoot us both." Doc told.
"Doc, that is a stupid thing to do." I stated.
"How about I just show him my badge so we both survive, all right?" Seeley told before holding his badge up for the rifle man. "See?"
The man squinted a bit as he read the badge from his short distance away, before moving back slightly.
"Name's Alex Joseph. This is me and Dahni's place." Alex told.
"Where's Dahni Webber?" Seeley questioned before Alex lowered his gun and I did the same as well as put the release back to normal.
"Missing. In the desert for almost a week. I've been looking for her."
"You point your gun at everyone who comes by?" Temperance asked.
"Maybe I'm nervous."
"Anything in particular you might be nervous about? Maybe something Dahni got caught up in?" Seeley asked.
"Nothing I can think of."
"Can we look in the trailer?" Doc asked.
"Not without a warrant."
"You have a problem with law enforcement?" Seeley asked as he walked back us to go into the trailer.
"You could say that, I guess." He told before flinging the door open to the trailer and going in leaving us out in the sun.
'So glad I've got this umbrella.'
"Model runs off with a handsome photographer. Jealous boyfriend with a gun finds them in the desert." Doc theorised.
'They can't be serious about the reason he isn't trusting of us are they?'
"He's definitely twitchy about somethin'." Seeley stated.
"You do realise, you are a white man and woman. White man is bad. Of course he will not be very trusting towards us." I told
'Jesus.'
"What if he's escaping out the back door?" Doc asked.
"You don't spend a lot of time in trailers, do you? No..." Seeley went to say more only to stop when Alex emerged from the trailer, shoving a picture at Seeley before moving back into the trailer and slamming the door shut.
'Good for him I guess.'
"Whoa." Seeley told as he glanced at the picture.
"What?" We both asked
Seeley held out the picture for us, showing it was a photo of Dahni and Ben sitting next to one another in a restaurant. The most notable detail is the fact that Ben has his around her shoulder.
"That's Sheriff Dawes." Doc told.
"Yeah, he definitely has a problem with law enforcement." Seeley told as they shared a look of awe by the revelation.
'I'm not gonna say anything about them possibly being related, and that's why she has this photo. Wonder how Zacks going.'(Zack p.o.v)
I walked towards Hodgins who was on the platform examining something under a microscope, listening to music.
"Dr. Brennan doesn't like us to listen to music while we're working." I told making him take one of them out to listen to me.
"Dr. Brennan is not here." He countered.
"She thinks the work deserves our full concentration. I need the skull now."
"Well, I'm still finding particulates. And since you're only Dr. Brennan's assistant without her, you don't carry all that much weight around here. And Ash isn't here to help you with getting said skull. Honestly how you have romantic feelings for her is baffling sometimes." He told annoying me at what he is referring to.
"I'm telling Dr. Goodman." I told before leaving to find him and I could tell he was grinning.
'I hope Ash is doing better where she is right now.'
