Will opened his eyes, blinking a few times. He didn't know if it was actually morning. Was it morning? He definitely didn't want it to be.

"Will!" A sudden force knocked Will off the bed, roughly pulling him. "Come on!"

Will groaned, looking up to see the face of his foster-sister, Jenny. "You don't want to miss breakfast, do you?" Jenny scolded.

"No," Will said, feeling annoyed for the abrupt awakening. "I'll be there."

"You'd better," Jenny scolded.

"Yes, mom," Will said sarcastically.

"Get ready, there's school today, and less bacon for you because of that comment," Jenny said. "Come on, don't you remember? You're supposed to start highschool today, you need to make a good impression!"

"Well, you didn't need to wake me up for that," Will said. "I'm not ready to meet that boy you're always talking about."

"I- shut up!" Jenny said. "I do not always talk about him!"

'Yeah right,'  Will thought. Ever since Jenny's parents had taken him in as a foster kid a few months ago, he'd been able to learn a lot about Jenny. For starters, she wanted to be a chef when she grew up, she was amazing at making food, she was a sophomore, and she had a crush on some tall guy in her grade that she could never forget.

"All right," Jenny said, suddenly remembering a card she could pull. "I suppose you don't want your pancakes, then?"

Will froze. Jenny made the best pancakes in the whole world. The fluffy texture was amazing to any taster, and far too much to risk over his morning feelings. Besides the fact that Jenny was already taking some bacon from him...

"Good," Jenny said, reading his expression. "Now get ready for school!" She closed Will's bedroom door, leaving Will to wonder how he could've let himself get manipulated so easily. He laughed a little at that before he actually got ready for the day like Jenny wanted him to.

Will frowned a little as he looked at his backpack. He had a reason to not be enthusiastic for today... He hoped it could be better than it normally was.

Will walked out of his room, going to the kitchen, where he knew Jenny would be. She tended to try eating in the kitchen as opposed to the table where the family was technically supposed  to eat, because she liked staying close to her food.

Will got there just as Mrs. Evans was dragging Jenny out of the kitchen. "Oh, there you are!" Mrs. Evans said brightly. "Now, we're all going to have a breakfast together, not separated the way we usually are!" She gave Jenny a pointed look.

"Okay, Mom," Jenny said, rolling her eyes with a playful smile. "You coming, Will?"

"Definitely," Will said, trying and failing to hide the grin at Mrs. Evans' actions for Jenny's habit.

The three of them joined Mr. Evans, who gave them a broad grin.

"Starting a new year at highschool!" he cheered. "And a new start for you, Will!"

"Yeah," Will said, smiling slightly. He was going to be a freshman this year, and he wasn't thoroughly excited. It wasn't that he hated school, more like he disliked people who were there.

"Come on, it'll be great!" Jenny said, elbowing him. "If anyone says anything to you, let me straighten them out!"

Will rolled his eyes. "I'm only a year younger than you."

"You're my foster brother, so you might as well be my little sibling," Jenny said, looking at him. "My really little sibling."

"It's not my fault you're tall," Will said in annoyance.

"Alright, you two," Mrs. Evans said. "Remember, you need to eat breakfast before we get you to school."

"I was thinking we could bike!" Jenny suggested.

Will raised his eyebrows at her. "Um, I don't think that's a-"

"Nah, I can bike with two of us!" Jenny said. There was only one bike at the house, and it was Jenny's. Jenny, though very kind and funny to other people, could sometimes do some stuff that could look a little bit crazy.

"Why not?" Mr. Evans said. "It'll be great for you two to bond!" Will was shaking his head at him, trying to communicate the message, but Mr. Evans didn't get it.

"That sounds great!" Jenny said brightly. Will groaned softly. He'd tried this with Jenny before, and he knew that she should NOT get her hands on a motorcycle, given what she already did.

Still... the pancakes were really good. Will hoped they didn't go flying later.

"Why are we at the top of a hill?" Will questioned.

"We need momentum to get us going," Jenny said with a grin on her face. "You're really not acting that excited, you know."

"I don't know, maybe we should just go back?" Will suggested. Jenny looked at him.

"Are you worried about highschool?" she questioned. "It's okay. I understand, but you can't give in to your fear!"

Actually, Will had been worried about breaking his neck on the way down the hill, but okay.

"I get it. Usually you're an early riser, so I thought it was weird that I had to wake you up," Jenny said, forgetting that the reason he was an early riser now was because of how she'd woken him up in the beginning. "It'll be a-okay!"

Will noted that neither of them were wearing helmets, and Jenny very obviously had left the helmets in the garage without his knowledge. "Okay." So, this was how he would die.

He and Jenny got on the bike. And that's when it began.

Jenny whooped as the bike went downhill, Will panicking. Normally, Will would actually have been slightly calm about stunts. But Jenny was swerving in and out of traffic going downhill, like a woman with a death wish, skidding along streets and being a biking demon.

He hoped he wouldn't be around if she ever got a motorcycle.

The ground flattened eventually, but Jenny still got the two of them to school. While Jenny was locking up her bike and Will was trying to mentally process his many near-deaths by road, he looked at the building.

Redmont High, named after one of the buildings in town. Will somehow knew, looking at it, that this was going to be a heck of a school year.

First chapter is out! A bit later than expected, but I am getting better at this! We'll see what happens next at Will's new highschool!
