Oh, no. Nope. Nope, he needed to just walk off. There was no way he was going to get involved with a guy who was talking like some sort of mafia member.

Will tried to walk as normally as possible away from his spot. Going towards the gate. Come on, come on. Hopefully Jenny was there to pick him up. His mind was spinning, conspiracy theories. Was Gilan actually part of the mafia? Would he end up in a graveyard if Gilan realized he'd seen him?

"Hey, Will. Will! Hey, anyone in there?!" Will blinked as he saw a hand waving in front of his face. Jenny. Oh, great. Great, now he wouldn't be tempted to go back and listen in to Gilan's conversation and potentially get himself murdered. Gilan was too nice to not be crazy.

"Yes. So, are you wondering how I got in detention?" Will asked. And immediately had to internally wince at the look on Jenny's face.

"Yeah, I was actually wondering how the hECK you made a teacher mad enough to put you in detention on the first day!" Jenny exclaimed, shaking her head. Will was a bit worried. Jenny didn't typically get so- "How'd you do it? You freshmen are such weird little kids."

Will stared, then blinked. Then he started laughed. Panic fading as he realized Jenny wasn't going to chase him around the kitchen with her wooden spoon.

"Come on, I had to ditch my friends to pick you up," Jenny said. "Who put you in detention, anyhow?"

"Mr. Urgal," Will said, rolling his eyes. "He's some kind of monster, or something."

(wink wonk)

Jenny grinned unexpectedly. "Well, that changes things, then. Come on, let's go."

"Where are we going?" Will asked, following her to her family's car (she was old enough to drive and was good enough to get a license, something that annoyed Will somewhat).

"The Icebound," Jenny said.

Will frowned as he got in the car, trying to think over what the Icebound could be. When he couldn't think of anything, he asked, "What's the Icebound?"

"You'll see," Jenny said, putting the keys in the ignition and beginning to drive. She got out her phone, putting it up to her ear to call someone. "Hey, Mom? Dad? You'll never believe who got Will in detention..."

>>>--------------------->

Mr. Urgal had taught at Will's highschool for as long as anyone in town could remember. He was easily considered to be the worst teacher in the school, and his face was hairy, so much that some brave souls had started to call him the 'Were-bear' in private.

Mr. Evans had been one of those people. Will's foster father had lived in a time when Mr. Urgal was still as old and gray, and upon hearing from Jenny that he was still at the school, there had been such an uproar over the phone that Jenny had to hold it away from her ear for a few seconds.

"He hated Mr. Urgal," Jenny explained to Will, holding one of her hands over the speaker.

Will could tell.

But the bottom line was that Jenny's parents were going to let Will go with Jenny to this 'Icebound' place as a prize, though Mrs. Evans had suggested that he try to avoid getting in trouble with Mr. Urgal, and would you please stop shouting about how the Were-bear couldn't possibly be around now honey, thank you.

With Jenny's phone away, Will finally asked the question he'd been holding back. "What's the Icebound?"

Jenny grinned at him. "It's a nickname people have for this one place. They make good food... not as good as Mr. Chubbs' though."
