i leaned my arm on the center console and balanced my head on my fist. it wasn't late, per say, but i was still a little bit tired. he smiled, hearing me yawn. the light rain on the windows added to my exhaustion.
"do you want to go home, y/n?"
"no. your house. mine is too quiet."
"i thought you'd be looking for that, though. it'll probably be quiet at my place, too, my parents went away for the weekend. you sure?"
i nodded. he looked at me for a moment, then looked back at the road. the entirety of dinner, he and i just made small talk, like the coffee shop, but it was different. it was better. exciting.
we pulled into his driveway, and we noticed something as we stepped out of the car. sam put his hand over his mouth, and i just laughed.
there was a car parked outside with an iron maiden and tarot card bumper stickers.
sam actually held my hand as we went got to the door, not seeming scared at all of going inside.
"sam, wait, what if they're, like, fucking on the couch?" i turned around and put my head into his chest. all he did was hold up his phone and mischievously grinned, turning the door handle.
lo and behold, we heard heavy breathing and rustling from the living room. i started laughing and before it could get loud, sam put his hand over my mouth. i leaned into it, kissing it.
someone whispered. "they're home," and there was more shuffling. we moved into the doorway of the living room. josh sat next to the same girl from the farmers market, both of them with messed up hair. i grinned, turning to say something, but sam took me by the waist and steered me up the stairs.
i groaned. "you are absolutely no fun whatsoever."
he shut the bedroom door behind me. "you say that right before i was going to ask you to stay the night." i turned around.
"sam."
"not that kind of stay the night. i kind of accidentally told ronnie and sold her to secrecy. she'll cover for you, just say you went to spend the night with her."
i looked at him, raising my eyebrows. he raised his back. i groaned and took out my phone, opening the messages app.
father of mine
hey dad, ronnie asked me to stay the night,
she's having a few friends over. i already have clothes and stuff.
that's fine, kiddo. how was dinner?
quite yummy. i still have that 50 though, he insisted
on paying.
he's a gentleman, for sure. see you tomorrow
night dad, love ya
"all good." i looked over at sam, who had been spinning around in a desk chair. he quietly cheered as i flopped on the bed. he scooted over to me and turned me over onto my back, looking into my eyes.
"you won't regret this."
"as long as i don't have to take a pregnancy test in two weeks."
"i'd never. not now."
"you better, kiszka. we aren't even out of high school."
"give it a few years." he smiled and i moved my head to kiss him, eyes flying closed. "c'mon, l/n, you look exhausted."
"i'm not tired," i whined, standing up and yawning just as i finished the sentence. he gave me an i told you so look.
"here, love," he tossed me a detroit red wings hoodie that sat on the end of his bed. "i was gonna give you this anyways."
i looked down at the fabric in my hands. it was absolutely drenched in his smell, a little worn at the hems, and absolutely huge. perfection. without skipping a beat, i turned around and slipped out of the dress, putting only the hoodie over my undergarments. it came halfway down my thighs and you couldn't see my hands out the sleeves. i flipped up the hood and turned to face him, a big cheesy smile on my face as i gave him two thumbs up.
"lookin' good, princess. c'mere." he sat on the bed cross-legged and held out his arms. i climbed on his lap, resting my head in the crook of his neck. he leaned back and pulled the blankets over us, and right as he did, a huge boom of thunder shook the house. i heard a scream from downstairs, making me burst into laughter.
"please, for the love of god, tell me that was josh."
"either him or jake, i saw another car pull up."
i gasped. "maybe he's got marie with him!"
"the kiszka residence is turning into a fuck house."
"sam. we're not going to-"
he playfully tossed me to the end of the bed, throwing himself on top of me, making me squirm. we laid there for a while, his head resting on my chest.
after a while, when i was drifting off, he lifted his head. "i'm cold, y/n. come to this side."
"aren't girls supposed to be unnaturally warm at night?"
"you're different, i suppose. here." i crawled to meet him, his arm around me. he kissed my forehead and pressed his nose to it. "is it too early to say this?" he asked.
"i don't think so. probably. but probably not. say it."
"i love you, l/n."
"i love you, kiszka."
