When I shut the front door I lost it. I couldn't help but release the burning tears. Something sounded in the kitchen causing me to quickly wipe at my tear stained cheeks.
"Skylar? Is that you?" My father asked. Before I could answer he came around the corner. "I thought you were at Ashley's-" he stopped when he noticed my red eyes. "Oh no, is it that time again? Do you need any any female products? I can run to the store if you'd like." I began to chuckle.
"Yes dad, it's just that time of the month, no need to worry." I lied. "And no I don't need anything from the store. I'm just going to head up to my room and get a few more hours of sleep." He smiled and hugged me.
"Love you kid."
"Love you." I replied then slowly treaded up the stairs.
~~~~~
"Sky!" I groaned and rolled over. "Skylar, it's time for school! Get up or you'll be late!" My father hollered from down stairs. With that I shot out of bed and threw on some jeans and a shirt. I began to apply a bit of makeup and noticed how red my eyes still were. After finishing up I shot downstairs. As I entered the kitchen the aroma of pancakes hit me making my stomach growl. "Have a bite to eat before you go." He said sliding a plate of the fluffy goodness towards me.
I didn't argue and quickly scarfed them down. I ignored his stare as I stuffed my face. "Thanks for the breakfast."
"No problem kid. Are you feeling better?"
"Yeah, I think I just needed some rest yesterday. This week has been kind of stressful."
"I know what you mean kid, I still can't find those files and I've never lost a file."
"Why do you need the files so badly?" I asked curious as to what he would tell me.
"I have more information to put in them and without those files I can get fired. It's a good thing no one has noticed them missing yet."
"Oh, well I'm sure you'll find them. I have to go!" I got up and kissed his cheek.
"I was teasing you when I said you'll be late. You still have nearly a hour left?"
"I know but I think I'm just going to walk today. I need some fresh air."
"Okay but be careful."
"Will do. You do the same!" I hollered as I walked out of the kitchen. While passing through the living room there on the table were more papers. Looking to the kitchen I made sure the coast was clear. Quickly I scanned through the papers, every single one was another familiar face from school saying they belong to a certain pack and the charges they have. As I picked up the last paper I gasped and felt betrayed beyond belief.
There was Ashley's photo in the top corner. I knew she knew about the gang but I didn't know she was in it. Before my emotions took over I quickly placed the papers back and headed out the front door. The wind was losing its chill and soon spring would be here. I took this opportunity to slow down and really enjoy the beautiful country side. In just a few weeks the spring showers would arrive and this walk won't be possible. So ignoring the pain in my chest I walked and thought about anything other than the Archers and the trouble they brought with them.
As I hauled my half empty book bag down the road I huffed. "I really need to get in shape!" I chuckled to myself. Something sounded in the roadside trees causing me to look into them. Seeing nothing I kept walking. A minute passed and I came to the private road that lead to Sterling's house. I paused for some unknown reason. What would the school day look like with no friends? I began my walk again and kept noticing the small sounds in the trees around me. After awhile of watching out of my peripherals I spotted him. The blue black wolve stood in the tree line starring at me. I smiled and slowly made my way towards him.
