"Skylar!" Ashley yelled from somewhere inside the house. Rolling my eyes I found my way to the kitchen.
"I'm in the kitchen about to eat your last donut." I whispered to myself as I chuckled evilly.
"Don't you touch my donut!" She yelled. Her footsteps grew louder as she ran down the stairs. As she entered the kitchen I stuffed the last bite in my mouth. "Dang you Skylar!" She huffed as she threw the box away.
"What? Your luna was hungry." I smiled sweetly.
"You're not officially luna until you have a ceremony so I don't care!" She laughed.
"Well it's a good thing we're having it this weekend then, huh?" I asked with a chuckle.
"What? Seriously!" She asked running over and hugging me. I hugged her back and we both began jumping excitedly. "I can't believe Sterling didn't tell me or Matthew." I stopped jumping.
"Sterling doesn't know yet." Ashley's smile faded as a serious mood took over.
"What?" She let go of me and sniffed the air. I looked around slightly confused.
"Don't worry I just made up my mind with your mom an hour ago. Your father and her went out to by some things for this weekend. I was just about to call Sterling and tell him as well."
"Shh." She said looking at me. She stood there listening to something I clearly couldn't hear.
"What is it?" I asked in a whisper.
"Nothing I guess. I thought maybe Sterling, Brayden, and Matthew were back. I guess I was just hearing things."
"Where have they been all day? After Sterling dropped me off at school I never saw him."
"They had to meet with the Blakely's pack. They are trying to renew the old peace treaty."
"Why? What does that entail?" I asked taking a seat at the bar. She sat beside me.
"Long story short a few years ago five packs inhabited this land. Of course we wolves are territorial and don't like other packs in our area. Therefore we made a treaty that we would honor the other's borders and never steal from one another. With time the packs decided to merge with us. We were stronger and feared by others because of our size. These packs wanted our protection in case it was ever needed. Now only two packs share the land. When Sterling moved here and took the alpha position the Blakely's let Tyler take his alpha position as well."
"But if the treaty was still unbroken why try to renew it?"
"Because the old alphas that signed the treaty are no longer in charge, they wanted the new, current alphas to sign so that the treaty would last another fifty years or so."
"Okay but it only takes a minute to sign a piece of paper, they've been gone the whole day." Ashley laughed.
"That's where the problem is. When this started a month ago Tyler didn't want to sign. Because the three other packs merged with us we have four fifths of the land, leaving Tyler's pack only one fifth. He deemed it unfair but Sterling objected saying that it is fair because we have four times as much people to house. Today was the final day, the day that it's decided that they either split the land in mutual agreement or they don't sign the treaty which can lead to a fight between the packs."
"A fight?" I gulped.
"Yes each alpha takes their second in command and then their best warrior with them. If they have a third then they will take the third instead. If a fight breaks out those six will fight to keep their position, alpha against alpha, beta against beta, warrior against warrior. Which ever alpha wins takes all the land and the other alpha's pack."
