"Do you at least known where they came from?", Leilani asked Syd. The three of them were sitting in the bowling alley after Stanley's shift while they were trying to figure out the root to Syd's telekinesis. "No, they just came out of nowhere", she replied.

"What about your parents?", Stanley asked.

"What about them?"
"Well, sometimes, a person inherits special abilities"
"The only things I inherited were my pasty skin and bubbly personality", Syd said sarcastically.
"And your thigh zits", Stanley added.

"God, this is a waste of time", Syd began to leave.

"Okay, okay, look. Im the first to call out on how shorty this town is and my life? It ain't perfect, Syd", he explained. "But you have something special and you're here right now and you want to try and understand it, and that's a big step. I thought no it's because I'm your mentor figure".

"Okay, so tell me what's the second step?"

Then, the three of them tried different methods to provoke Syd's powers, but none of them were working. Then, she told them that her powers often occur whenever she got angry or embarrassed. "Maybe you can try thinking about something that pisses you off?", Leilani suggested.

"I was just thinking that", said Stanley. He stood in front of her. "You're ugly, repulsive, and that's not counting the zits".

"Yeah, I see what you're doing, Stan", Syd laughed, catching on to his method.

"And you want to know something tabard you can more embarrassing and ugly? Flunking biology, which you most definitely do", he continued on. "Martin fan a passed biology and he thinks a cyclops staged the moon landing. "Do you want to on now the scary thing? It's that you're never going to figure this out. You're never going to figure out what the hell is inside you and that's going to eat you up inside. That's going to suck, yeah it will, but nothing will ever suck as much as your shitty family!"

"Stan-", Leilani began. She saw two bowling balls rise up from behind Syd.

"For starters, let's talk about your Dad. I hear that he didn't even leave a note and you wanna know something? You'll never know why he killer himself!". Then, the two bowling balls quickly darted towards Stanley's direction, causing him to duck, and hit the wall. He stood up to see the damage. "Holy shit! That was awesome!", he exclaimed.

"Fuck you!", Syd angrily shoved him.

"Syd, said didn't meant any of that, I mean, it worked!", Stanley said.
"I could've killed you! I'm done", Syd argued before storming out the door. Stanley knocked down the stack of soda cans that they sat up earlier and sat next to Leilani in one of the seats. "That went well", Leilani said sarcastically.

"Yeah. Again, sorry about this morning", Stanley said. "I guess I should've just lied about it"

"Stanny, you don't have to lie. I know something's going on, but you can tell me anything. I just want to help you".

"And I appreciate your help, I really do, but I just just don't want you to get in to any kind of trouble"

"Well, trust me, I'd rather get in to trouble than to let you get hit again".

Stanley brought her in for a hug and she embraced it. A part of her wished that she could stay in his arms forever so that he didn't have to go home.
