Fear of Losing You

Leilani wasn't able to meet up with Syd and Stanley after school since they, along with Dina and Brad, got detention.When she got home, she walked in the house and was met with shouting from the kitchen."I'm just saying that I would've preferred it if the kids were closer to Hawaiian culture", Keala argued with her husband.

"Your parents can still visit", Roberto debated.

"Is everything okay?", Leilani interrupted them. Both parents turned to look at their middle daughter. "Yeah, Leilani, just go upstairs", Roberto told her.

"Your dad and I are just having a discussion", Keala added. Leilani knew it was far from a discussion, but she went upstairs. Leilani went in to her room and completed her homework, but her mother's words still stuck with her. She had a feeling that her parents' argument had to deal with Keala being unhappy with being far away from Hawaii. Leilani missed the island and her extended family, but her newfound friends(including Stanley) became the only reason why she wanted to stay in Brownsville. After dinner, Stanley called her to let her know everything that happened in detention, including the shadowy figure that Syd saw in the library. "Are you sure it wasn't some kind of creepy stalker?", she asked him.

"Probably not the type of stalker you're thinking about, but we're trying to figure it out", he replied. Leilani was silent for a while. "Is everything okay?", he asked.
"Yeah, I just have a lot on my mind"

"Like what?"

"I'm afraid that my parents might be considering moving us back to Hawaii"

"What makes you think that?"

"I overheard them arguing. Plus, my mom's always concerned about us losing touch with our roots", Leilani explained.

"So, are you sure that they're planning on moving?"

"Not sure"

"I hope not. I don't want to lose you", Stanley said. "You're like one of the least boring people in this town".

"I don't want to lose you either"
