Leilani woke up to the beam of sunlight peaking from her window blinds. Stanley slept in a sleeping bag beside her bed. It was the morning after the homecoming, which was also, after Syd blew Bradley's head off and ran away. That night still felt unreal to her like it was a dream. She turned around and her eyes met Stanley's.

"Hey", he whispered.

"Hey", she replied. Leilani stretched her arms before slightly sitting up. "Did you sleep well last night?", Stanley asked.

"No", she said, wanting to be straight forward and honest.

"Me neither", Stanley said solemnly.

After getting out of bed, Leilani noticed Stanley looking out the window. She joined him and caught his gaze at his empty driveway. Mr. Barber's truck was gone, meaning that he must've left early that morning. "I think I should go", said Stanley. "But what if your dad comes back", Leilani asked.

"He's usually gone for long periods of time. It's typical of him".

Leilani reluctantly agreed. Stanley grabbed his belongings and exited her window. The rest of her morning carried on like normal with Leilani hearing the sound of her family talking downstairs and the smell of breakfast cooking in the kitchen. She was finishing her morning facial routine when she heard the doorbell ring. "Leilani, your boyfriend's here", Kai called in a laidback tone.

She went downstairs and saw Stanley at the front door. Then, she noticed the news report about the homecoming incident on TV. The camera focused on the front of the school building. "I got a text from my colleague and saw this all over the news", Keala said worriedly. "Are you two, okay?".

"Yes, we're fine", she assured her.

A police officer appeared on the news in an interview with the anchor, outside of the school. "It's a tragic situation and everyone's still in shock", he explained. "But right now, we're working to figure out the source of this incident". When the officer made that statement, it reminded Leilani that her and Stanley still kept Syd's diary in their possession. Knowing that it contained information about her powers, it also meant that they really need to protect it from everyone.

"Stanley, would you like to stay for breakfast?", asked Keala.

"Sure", he replied. Nina gave Leilani a teasing look and raised her eyebrows up and down, resulting in Leilani nudging her.

Leilani and Stanley came to an agreement that he was going to keep the diary. He put it in his pocket. "You know, I think we're starting to really feel like a couple", Leilani said.

"How so?", asked Stanley.

"You sneaked out of my window. It was like we were in a John Hughes movie or something", she slightly grinned.

"Well, we can be walking cliches whenever you'd like", he smirked.

"I'd like that", she said, smiling before giving him a peck on the lips. Then, they looked at Syd's house and saw a police car parked in the driveway. An officer and detective exit the vehicle and walked over to the front door. "Well, school's going to be fun", Stanley said sarcastically.
