Like most kids who move to a different state, moving wasn't easy for Leilani. She was born and raised in Honolulu, but her dad Roberto took a job in Brownsville, Pennsylvania, causing him to move her and her family there. The move was a bit hard, especially for Leilani and her siblings since they were leaving behind friends and Hawaii's tropical environment. She honestly found nothing interesting about Brownsville, especially since it was known for being one of the most polluted areas in America. Her mom Keala wasn't sure about moving to a different state at first since most of her family were there and Hawaii was her birthplace as well, but she remained supportive of her husband's decision.

Leilani sat against a tree in her backyard, criss-crossed and played ukulele, singing "Skipping Stones". She was interrupted by a brunette curly-haired boy from the backyard next door who asked, "Is that Bloodwitch?". "What?", Leilani asked.

"I couldn't help, but notice that you were playing a song by Bloodwitch"

"Yeah, it's one of my favorite bands", she replied.

"Oh my god, you listen to them too!?", he beamed. He walked towards her.

"Yeah", she smiled. She was happy to find someone who was familiar with the indie band as so was he.

"Sorry, I'm Stanley. Stanley Barber", he shook her hand, apologizing for not introducing himelf earlier.

She got up and walked towards him. "Leilani", she shook his hand.

"So, I saw that you and your family just moved here"

"Yeah, I'm from Hawaii"

"Cool"

"I kind of miss it though, but I guess I'll get used to this", she looked at the ground.

"I understand", he said. "It's always good to have another person to talk to in this town"

There was a bit of silence between them. She could already guess that he was a stoner from the loose way he dressed. "So, um..", Stanley awkwardly chuckled.

"So.."

"I think you have a nice voice"

"Thanks, as I've been told. It mostly comes from being in school plays and such"

Then, Keala called her from inside the house. "I got to go. My mom's calling me", she said.

"Ok. See you around, new girl", he started to walk off.

"I'll see you around, Stanley Barber", she smirked.

He smiled back at her and put his sunglasses on before walking off. Even though there was nothing must to the town of Brownsville, to her, meeting Stanley could possibly be an exception.
