HARRY's POV

I haven't talked to Alura since yesterday, not that I should at all. Alura hasn't tried to speak with me either. I'm still trying to process the fact that she kissed Ryle.

I'm now double guessing if I've done something wrong or if there's something I haven't done. Hermione and Ron don't know anything about this luckily, because if they did, they would constantly be asking if I'm okay. They can already tell something's off by the way I look down when Alura is mentioned.

"As I was saying," Hermione continued, "I don't think potions will be that difficult this year since Snape isn't our teacher - you should give it a go. Or at least try to get the extra credit."

"Ron and I just have a free period. Unfortunately, we are in the class," I mumbled the last part.

Ron nodded in agreement. "I'm pretty sure Alura and Daphne are in the class too, so I guess it will be bearable."

And there's her name again. I forced a smile and quickly took a sip of my drink.

"Speaking of classes, I have to go. Potions starts in a few minutes and I want to be early." Hermione hurriedly grabbed her things and rushed out the hall.

From down the table, Lavender Brown is gushing at Ron, whereas he's looking around pretending not to see her.

I nudged his shoulder, smiling. "Lavender Brown?"

"You sound surprised."

"No, not at all," I said. "I just didn't know you had your eye on someone."

"Speaking of which..." I already know where this is headed. "What's up with you and Lura?"

I have never heard anyone but Daphne use "Lura." It just seems lazy. You might as well add the "A."

"What do you mean?" I played off.

He rose an eyebrow. "Everyone knows that Ryle is living in the same dorm as her. And have you seen him? He is hot."

I scrunched my nose. "Please don't ever say that again - and not helping!"

"Sorry," he apologized. "Seriously, though. Did you two talk? I know if I were you, I'd be pretty upset."

"No," I answered simply.

"'No'?" Ron mimicked. "That's all? Okay, something's for sure wrong."

Sighing, I finally came clean. Ron listened to my every word, nodding along so I know he's listening.

"What's gonna happen next?" he asked. "Do you think..."

"Honestly... I don't know."

He nodded understandingly. "I'm not saying I want you and Lura to break up, I just think you have a lot to think about. Just don't rush to a decision."

Desperately wanting to change the subject, I took a sip of my water. Ron took the hint and we left the great hall to watch everyone go to their classes.

And that's only the beginning of how I got dragged into class by McGonagall.

ALURA's POV

My luck can't be worse. Not only do I have potions for my first period, but Harry and Ryle are also in it as well. This isn't going to go well.

"For example," Hermione continues, "I smell freshly mown grass and... new parchment, and... spearmint toothpaste." She lowered her voice at the last part.

"Now, Amortentia doesn't create actual love," said Slughorn. "That would be impossible. But it does cause powerful infatuation and obsession."

As Slughorn continued, I couldn't help but notice Harry shooting dirty looks to Ryle, and Ryle pretending not to notice.

After Slughorn finished explaining, he put us in groups at tables. Conveniently, Ryle and Harry are at my table, along with Daphne, who I hope can keep things calm there.

Harry seems to be taking out his anger on the bean, whereas Daphne is trying to make conversation.

"You are going to love Hogwarts," Daphne told Ryle. "They usually have a masquerade ball at the end of October and it is-"

"I think he knows," Harry interrupted her.

"Geez, why are you so grumpy?" Daphne muttered.

"Look, I don't know why you're giving me these looks," Ryle directed toward Harry. "I don't know what I did to you-"

"You kissed my girlfriend, dick!" Harry snapped, causing surrounding tables to look at us. He quietly apologized to everyone afterward.

Ryle stopped doing what he was doing and looked at Harry with a regretful look. "I didn't know Alura was... I'm so sorry."

Daphne scoffed whilst looking between me and Ryle. "Why didn't you tell me?"

"It's not exactly easy to tell someone."

"Yeah, I noticed that when you let me walk away," Harry said under his breath, which did not go unnoticed by Daphne.

Daphne elbowed him. "Not here or now."

Harry scoffed. "Are you really taking her side?"

"I'm not taking anyone's side. I agree that this whole thing is really messed up but it's not the time to talk about it."

Ryle sucked in a deep breath through his teeth and exhaled. "Harry, I'm sorry. I didn't know Alura had a boyfriend at the time and I now do. I'll stay out of your way."

"That'll be kind of hard to do considering you're living with her."

"Okay, that's enough," Daphne said strictly. "Do this wherever except here. I'm trying to get a good grade and I can't do that with you two bickering."

Daphne can be very scary when she wants to be, so after that, not another word was said. Well, except the occasional curses that leave Harry's lips.

The class has finally ended. Daphne can barely look at me, and Harry is angrier than he was before he came here.

I don't know about the future of my relationship with Harry and I have a lot to think about. But if I were him, I'd want to dump me in the most painful and deserving way possible.

HARRY's POV

After classes were over, I went to my dorm to think.

I should've known that everything lately was too good to be true. After finally relieving myself of the stress of waiting for the next shoe to drop, it drops. In this case, Alura kissing Ryle.

We both knew going into this that it most likely wouldn't last. Too much happens in our lives to maintain a healthy relationship.

But I also don't want to go back to when we hated each other. I don't want to feel that emptiness that I felt for months without her.

I'm doing what I'm about to do not only for me but for her as well. We both need time to actually take in everything.

The thing is when we form strong connections and relationships with anyone we'll do anything to protect them. Including from ourselves. I couldn't bear to hurt Alura more than I already have, and if I stay in this relationship with her, I'll be doing just that.

Bad timing but... I want to write a seggs scene with Ryle and Alura...
