As soon as the 'party' is over, you lifelessly went up your room when Diana caught you by the wrist. "Hey." She says. You smile slightly at her, desperately wanting to show her how thankful you are that she's here. Diana is the closest person that reminds you of Niall. She's the only one you've got left. "Y/N... I'm just going to lay everything out to you, okay?" You nod, unsure about where she's heading. "You're miserable." She begins, "I mean I still notice you moping around tonight, but I see it's fading. Because of what? I don't know. But I see the way that guy Michael looks at you. Like you're his whole world... I see Niall in him when he looks at you. I don't get why you don't feel that, but I'm just here to point out that maybe it's time you move on, you know? I don't know anyone here who is as blunt as me to tell you, so consider this as an eye-opener." She finishes. Instead of saying something back, you hugged her tight, catching her off guard. "I think..." You say into the hug, "I think you're right." Diana hugs back, slowly. "Thank you." You finally said. Diana smirked and retreated outside your house and made her way back to the hotel. Knowing Michael would be upstairs, you hurriedly went up, your feet stomping hard on the stairs.

Truthfully, he was. Michael is sitting on the beanbag chair, his back slumped against your wall. His eyes quickly flicker to your direction as soon as you stepped inside the room. "Hey." You whisper softly. Michael cranes his head towards you. "Hey. I've been thinking," he trails off, "maybe I think it's time to uh, say something..." You laugh. He made no sense whatsoever. "Michael, you've been saying something the entire night. What is it?" "I love you." The moment it's been out, Michael looks like he immediately regret what he just said. His eyes went wide and were looking everywhere but you. "What...?" You said, trying to process what he said, but your heart is too busy jumping up and down. "Uhh... Um," Michael's lips tug up into a dorky grin. "I um... Sorry." He says, "I just couldn't help it. I want you to be happy, Y/N. And I know I can make you happy. We can raise Matthew together. I just want a chance to prove everything to you." Your mouth has gone dry. "S-since when?" You manage. "I liked you ever since," he says, "but when we moved in together in Uni, it just intensified my feelings for you and I didn't know how to deal with that. Damn it, I've never lived with a girl before." Michael's hand immediately connected to his face, squeezing his eyes shut. He looks back at you again. "I'm sorry Y/N. Am I overwhelming you? I'm overwhelming you. I'm sorry. I just can't bear the sight of you sulking like that. I know I can make you happy... We can make you happy, Matt and I." He says, "and I'm sure Niall would want that for you as well... It's been a year, Y/N." It's been a year, yet the mere mention of his name still tears you apart. But maybe Michael's right... maybe it really is time for you to move on. And maybe, just maybe, it's better to move on with him.

You finish packing your clothes in your luggage. It's time to leave again. The tips of your fingers slightly scrape against the familiar, varnished wood as you stride down the stairs. Michael immediately gets your luggage and loaded it at the back of the car. As you open the front passenger seat, an open box of pizza and a bouquet of roses are resting on the seat. Written above the box is, "I don't actually have a fancy way of doing this... So, will you be my girlfriend?" Michael casually slid on the driver's seat, reveling at your reaction. "Michael." You say, smiling. "Okay Y/N, don't freak out. I thought about this, okay? I know the risks. I know that our friendship could end... But I am willing to take that risk if it means having you alongside me every time. I will fight for us." Your eyes water as Michael took your hand. "This is the part that you say yes because I've been dying to eat the pizza" he manage to say, obviously diverting his nervousness. "I'll say my answer when we get to the airport, but go ahead eat the pizza" you say, giving him a slice. Michael reluctantly took the greasy slice from your hand devoured it in less than a minute. He then drove away, and your heart wants to jump right off your chest.

"The anxiety is killing me." Michael pulls over at the departures area. You thought about it hard, but even though you did, you already had an answer the moment you saw the pizza box resting on top of the seat. You just smile at him. "Maybe I should tell you when I get back on winter break." You say sardonically. Michael's hand went to his blue hair and sighs heavily. "Just kidding, doofus." You ruffled his hair, "why do you think I asked you to eat the pizza in the first place?" You say, smiling. "What the fuck. So it was a yes all along?" Your bottom lips sunk into your teeth, smiling as you nod. "What the fuck, Y/N! I almost peed my pants on the way here thinking of what you're going to say and now you're telling me it was just a yes all along?!" You shrug your shoulders as if guiltily saying, "yup." "It would be nice to relive the childhood though!" You added. "Oh shut up." Michael grabs you behind your neck and pulls you into a kiss. The moment your lips parted, Michael's tongue immediately slipped inside. You melt into his kiss. Because after a year, everything felt like it was falling back into place again. You pull away, a wide smile plastered across your face. "I love you." Michael says, "and I'm never going to get tired of telling you." Hearing those words from Michael are literally like music to your ears. "I love you too." You reply. In that moment, everything just felt right. You were more than ready to face a new world with Michael by your side.
