thereal_bharrieThe day appeared hazy, and you could not tell if it was going to rain or not. It just seemed dull. The hazy weather appears to have affected everyone.
April takes a sip from her water bottle while flipping through her notebook. It was Sunday afternoon, and she had no idea how she arrived at the school garden. It appeared favorable because of the fresh air she was receiving. But clearly not conducive to reading. Different students were busy walking back and forth, and the noise they were making completely distracted her.
She could not concentrate in noisy environments. She often wondered how most people could read and understand in noisy environments. She could not even read while listening to music because she preferred silence everywhere. During the days she was at home, she would frequently go to church to read because her compound was the worst compound you could ever encounter. Women were constantly arguing, and if it was not about the general restroom, it was about the kitchen.
April bites her nails and stares ahead.
"I noticed you are constantly biting your nails. That is a bad habit." April literally jumps from her seat. Meanwhile, Light laughs heartily.
"Wow, I totally got you!" Light says, amidst laughter. April smiles while rolling her eyes.
"Always reading," he remarks as he removes the physics textbook; April remains silent. "Do you ever get bored?" He inquired.
April gives a smile.
"Not everyone is born with a silver spoon!" She pauses. "Wait, let me rephrase. Most people were born with a silver spoon, but they lost it in the long run." April says this now, looking up at a confused Light. She smiles. "Most of us got here after putting in a lot of effort. We don't have to throw the opportunity away. My mother can not even afford a three-square meal, but I was accepted to Hallel College on a scholarship. And to complete my higher education. I need another scholarship. My mother cannot afford it!" April concludes, while Light stares at her. He licks his dried lips."How about your dad?"
"Hey, you are here!"
April and Light turn to face the direction they heard the voice.April appeared stunned, and she suddenly began to feel uneasy; she thought she was done with this; she had never felt comfortable around Nimi.
Nimi, as usual, smiled calmly, and April secretly checked him out. He was on his Sunday wear. Which appeared neatly ironed; she had never seen him in a short before; it looked kind of funny; she knew senior students wore trousers.
"Nimi, what is up with these shorts!" Light inquires and laughs; April simply smiles, wondering how he knew what was going on in her mind.
"One of my Sunday whites is gone. The other is in the laundry, " Nimi explains.
"Third one!" Nimi smiled as Light attacked; he understood what Light was trying to do.
"I don’t have a third one!" Nimi lies.
"Who does not have a third one? The three are clearly dirty!" Light says, making April smile. She could see the embarrassed expression on Nimi's face.
"Be embarrassing me in front of a girl!" Nimi hisses in a playful manner. "Please shift," He pushes Light playfully and joins them. April smiled and watched them without saying anything.
"Please do not push me off!" Light complains.
"Hey!" He turns to April, who actually smiles and responds.
