Chapter 13.2
If a home could be a person
Jungwon's Point of view
I couldn't help but think Jay hyung turned a little weirder since we got out of the car, we just finished our lunch and now here at the grocery mart to get food for the camping this Sunday.
Jake hyung and Riki keep putting snacks on their cart. There's also a lot of ramen on it and jerky beef strips, among others,
"Jay, get the beef and pork! you have good eyes for meat." Jake hyung told him. He just nodded and pushed our cart. Jay hyung is a good cook. He's also all-knowing when buying stuff, so surely we can trust him in these.
I watched him checked the tags of the beefs. He looks very attractive, always one, but his attractiveness just exceeds the limit every time he wears his glasses. I found out that he had poor eyesight when I tried it once. I wonder if he still sees me sometimes when he's not wearing it.
Maybe that explains how he finds me handsome enough to turns heads but not him when he literally captivates everyone with his charm by just passing by. He also seems not aware that many of those eyes want to approach, tame and impressed him if he just doesn't look intimidating and they're just not scared of him.
Somehow I find that a relief. It may sound weird, but I seemed to want him all by myself. Perhaps because he's all I have in this new world of mine.
"Is there anything you want? He asked me. I could feel my cheeks turning red when he caught me staring at him. I just shook my head out of embarrassment.
I watched him put a lot of beef on the separate tray without even caring for the price. I immediately stopped him and said, "Jay hyung, I might not afford it." but he just looked at me blankly. It was a blank look that always made my heart shudder for some unknown reason.
I hate saying those words, but I should be honest to myself and what I could afford. It's hard to make a living after all.
"Hee hyung will surely going to bring some too, so let's don't get too much," I added.
"You paid last time for our groceries, so I'm going to pay for these." He told me with a final tone, but I just couldn't let him do that.
"I'm the one who invited you, and our groceries is different thing to this. How can I let you pay for these?" I resorted,
He's now looking at me as if he's reading me. I always wanted to find and know where my strength is coming from to stand those pair of eyes and stares of him. It is deep that it makes me feel drowning in an abyss and naturally sharp that I will be long dead if just stares could kill.
That's how powerful his eyes alone, and his glances yet, I was able to find softness and gentleness in every inch of it. Perhaps it takes time to see it, or maybe it's something I could see because I want to find and believe it exists in him.
"Then treat us next time." He replied plainly. He's now getting and adding pork cuts in our cart. I let him do what he wanted.
"I will still treat you next time, So let me pay for this, or at least let's split the bill instead," I suggested to him. I don't actually like him spending too much money, He always does. We take turns paying for our groceries, but he always cut the bill short when it's my time to pay.
I can see him stretching his arms that got me worried, "Did I hurt your shoulder?" I asked him, I slept too long, just a while ago, so It must hurt.
He smiled and shook his head. "Not really," he replied as he patted my head softly.
"Hyung, let me have the cart." I insisted, then took over our cart from him. We're now in the alcoholic section. He went straight to the beers and put sets of beers on our cart.
