Evelyn:
"Have you come to a conclusion about us?" Ransom asks impatiently, locking the door.
Of cause he will lock the door, so I cannot escape.
But hang on! I only heard Linda's voice as I ran to this room...how did Ransom know I was here?
I narrow my eyes. "How did you know I was in this room?"
Ransom shrugs. "I saw you running from the stairs into Harlan's study and once I didn't see you in the study room, I figured you must have run in here." he explains. "Also you should have looked behind you to make sure you closed the wall because I saw the wall door was open." he adds, raising his hands to his sides. "You should be more careful next time. No one else in my family must know about this room."
This...red room of pain, or more like the silver room of pain, considering this room has no kinky toys in it and it is not painted red.
I am glad Ransom isn't into that kind of intimacy.
"So...our relationship?" Ransom presses, making me snap back to reality. "It's been a full week and all I have been doing is waiting for you to tell me where we are in our relationship." he says with a harsh voice.
I close my eyes and bow my head, sighing.
It has been a whole week. A whole week of stress and anxiety. Ransom did allow me to have the full week to think – well, besides a text every morning when I woke up and a text before I went to bed.
Each text ended with a dove or star emoji, and then there would always be a red heart emoji after the dove or the star. It reminded me of the good memories I had with Ransom, when we would text each other until the early hours of the morning because we were in different cities.
I smile to myself, thinking about the good memories I have, and I know Ransom cannot see my face. My smile however, fades as I focus on the present.
The truth is, I have made up my mind about Ransom, but there is a catch: The catch is a few promises Ransom must make, and stick to, but there is one main promise I want him to make.
I want Ransom to make this promise to me, but if he breaks this promise...then it will definitely be over between us – for good.
"Evelyn? Please speak to me. I am freaking out here." Ransom gasps.
It sounds like he is going to hyperventilate at any second, but his voice sounds closer than before.
I lift my head to see Ransom is kneeling in front of me, his hands on either side of my legs. His lower lip is quivering and I look down to see his hands are shaking. I gaze into his eyes, which are so blue. So blue that I cannot look away, even if I wanted to.
But his soft gaze is pulling on my heart strings, and it's making me want to hold Ransom and say that it'll be okay.
"Evelyn?" Ransom repeats, sounding desperate this time, as he shakes my legs. "Please speak to me. Get out of your thoughts and talk to me, please." he urges.
I inhale before I begin. "Promise...Promise me –"
"Yes I promise." Ransom says hastily.
I close my eyes. "Let me finish." I slowly open my eyes, inhaling again. "Promise me you will never cheat on me again. Promise me you will be faithful to me. That you will not make out with another woman." I plea, my voice trembling. "I want you to promise me that you will never lie to me again."
