Ransom:
"Who phoned you?" I ask as I exit my bedroom, heading for the stairs.
Evelyn jumps down the last step as I step down the stairs, and she doesn't say a word to me. She picks up her car keys and opens the front door.
"Hey!" I grab Evelyn's arm. "I'm talking to you!" I say irritably.
Evelyn darts her eyes to me. "Let me go! I need to go home!" she says through her teeth as she tries to yank her arm away from my grip.
"Who phoned you?" I repeat, holding tightly onto her arm.
"Lydia. Now let me GO!" Evelyn shouts, yanking her arm away from me and she marches out the door.
"Evelyn!" I gasp and I run after her.
"You cannot stop me!" Evelyn shouts, walking toward her car.
"I know that, but – hey!" I block Evelyn from opening her car's front door.
"Ransom! I need to go! Move out –"
"Just wait!" I raise my hands, trying to catch my breath.
How am I out of breath already?
Evelyn shakes her head. "I need to go. I –"
"Hang on!" I raise my voice.
Evelyn stomps her foot. "No! Why should I? I need to go!" she says as she reaches her hand out to open the car door, but I catch her hand before it reaches the handle.
"Ransom!"
"You're not thinking clearly." I say quickly, lowering my voice.
Evelyn looks up at me, tilting her head. "Not thinking clearly? What – oh! Just move." she tries to open her car door with her other hand, but I pull her away from her car.
"Let me go! I have to go! I have to leave! I need to leave now!" Evelyn screams frantically, moving her body to try and get out of my grip.
Why is she acting like a lunatic?
"Stop. Just stop." I murmur, holding onto her shoulders. "Ssshh..."
"No! Why must I calm down? Just let me go! I'm not doing this with you! I need to go! I need to get in my car! Ransom! Let me go!" Evelyn shouts, trying to wriggle her body out of my grip, but she fails to.
She knows she cannot get out of my grip, so why does she try?
"Shh...Just sshh..." I say softly, trying to relax my girlfriend – and myself.
I know she said she is going to see Lydia, but I don't know why she is freaking out like this.
Evelyn heavily sighs. "Come on Ransom! I am already going to be late because I am not staying in my own damn house." she grumbles. "Now let me go. Please!" she whines.
I stiffen my back and clench my jaw.
Her whining is not what I need right now! It's. So. Annoying! She sounds like an ungrateful child!
"Ransom!"
"Tell me why you need to go to Lydia's house? You cannot be freaking out for no reason."
Evelyn stomps her foot. "It's Toulouse. Are you happy? Now let me go!"
The kitten she found in the street? What is wrong with him?
"Ransom! Please!" Evelyn whines.
I breathe out my nose. "Fine." I say quickly. "I'll let you go, if..."
