Evelyn:
"Well, aren't you going to answer me?" Ransom barks.
I shift my weight uncomfortably and I look away from Ransom.
"Answer me!" Ransom yells.
I move my body until I am sitting on my knees and I look down at the duvet.
"I can wait here all evening if I have to. Now answer me!" Ransom shouts, but the sound of his voice makes my skin jump.
I close my eyes and gulp. I can already feel my eyes are watering up.
Dammit! Ransom's scaring me! Plus, if I do speak up, I am going to burst into tears.
But I fear I am going to have to speak up.
But my tears are going to pour out!
"Well?" Ransom snarls.
Dammit! As much as I want to avoid it, I have to speak up, otherwise I will just have Ransom screaming at me.
"Dammit Evelyn! So help me –"
"What?" I scoff. "What will you do?" I look straight into Ransom's eyes.
His beautiful blue intoxicating eyes.
Ransom seems taken aback from what I just said, but he quickly straightens his back.
He inhales. "Just tell me why you decided to turn your phone off for the whole damn morning?" he presses. I hear a slight urgency in his voice.
I take a deep breath and decide to answer Ransom, even if I burst into tears. "Maybe it's because I knew you would phone me and demand that I drive back to your house." I say with a low voice.
"Well, we had plans for today, or don't you remember?"
Ransom...just sounds like my father.
I hate that! I really do.
"Correction." I hold up my finger. "You made plans for today. I didn't agree with any of your plans."
"Don't lie." Ransom huffs.
"I'm not lying!" I bark. "When you told me your plan for today, you'll note that I didn't say I would agree to it. So don't tell me I am lying when I am not."
Ransom sighs. "Well not speaking up about it is an agreement. A silent agreement." he points out.
I pout, creasing my brows. "Oh yeah? Well maybe I didn't want you dictating my day. Maybe I wanted to plan my own day."
Ransom leans against the door frame. "Oh come on Evelyn! I wasn't –"
"DON'T!" I scream, silencing Ransom. "Don't you dare say that you weren't dictating my day, because that is exactly what you did." I sneer, my voice low and harsh.
Ransom looks at me with a sullen expression. "That's not –"
"Yes it is true. Don't you dare deny it." I grumble, knitting my brows together. "You...You..." I inhale, "You...like to control me."
"Really?" Ransoms scoffs in disbelief. "No I don't."
"Then why are you standing there," I point to Ransom in the doorway, "getting all angry at me because I left this morning in my own car?" I ask.
"Because I was worried about you. Like, what happened if you were in a car accident?" Ransom asks, but his voice is almost a mumble.
Is he serious?
