Y/N stared at the ice cream that Katsuki got for her.
The blond boy took her to the nearest ice cream parlor since he knew that she has not tried some yet. He wasn't a fan of sweets but he did get himself a popsicle just so she won't be alone in eating.
Katsuki watched the healer as she poked the vanilla ice cream he got for her, he asked it to be in a cup so just in case she'd take time in eating it, it won't be too messy. He decided he made the best choice since she was still observing it. Katsuki got her a plain vanilla sundae which she decided should have chocolate syrup on top - Y/N has grown fond of chocolate ever since she got a taste of it back in their dorm.
Before going out, they both took care of making Y/N as un-Y/N as possible, tying her hair in a high ponytail and covering up her lithe figure with his big hoodie. She was usually wearing dresses (which were only a few that Mr. Mamoru got to grab before they escaped the mansion).
"Hey loser, try it out already." He growled, getting tired of watching the ice cream melt.
Y/N glanced at him and nodded. She took a small bit before trying it out. Y/N's face brightened considerably from that analyzing gaze she had on her face earlier. "This is good. What did you say the flavor was, Bakugo?"
"Vanilla." He answered then he huffed, "You can call me Katsuki while we're here. We have three Bakugos in the house, you're gonna have to call me something else."
Then he immediately added, "But it'll be back to Bakugo when we return to school, okay nerd?" It was quite loud that the staff in the parlor turned to glance at them. It was empty since they got there early.
"Right." Y/N nodded then she said, "Kat-su-ki."
The blond boy stared at her, flushing in faint pink when she finished. This was the first time he allowed her to say it and somehow...it sounded-
"Hey! Why are you saying it like that?"
"Like what? I was trying to get it right."
"Tch."Katsuki took a large bite from his popsicle, breaking it in half. He suppressed the sudden brain freeze he got from it just so he won't appear too affected by the way his name rolled flawlessly on her tongue.
"Eat faster." He leaned back on his seat, keeping the remaining popsicle between his lips.
"Alright. Sorry." The healer started eating faster, "What flavor did you get, Katsuki?"
"Pineapple." Katsuki answered quietly as he put the popsicle stick down on the table. He leaned back on his seat, "What do you want to see after this?"
"Mina...said I need to try...to go to the mall." She tried to rake her brain for the ideas the girls mentioned during their sleepover. They were all telling her about the outside world. They were not told of her joining Bakugo during his scheduled trip back home - the only people who knows are Principal Nezu, and Mr. Mamoru. Y/N simply told them that she and Mr. Mamoru will need to go for awhile to settle certain things.
This trip was an absolute secret and although it was also a bit short, Y/N wanted to experience as much as she can.
"What will we do in the mall though?"
"I don't know. What can we do? What's in there?"He wasn't completely into going around crowded places especially since he has been tired for the entire week but he'll probably have to make an exemption since he was the assigned guardian for Y/N's trip.
"How about we just look around then see if you like something?" He suggested quietly, quite unsure about what Y/N would like. But what he wanted to make sure she does is to have her own voice.
He usually exercised his right to speak out, maybe a little too much for everyone's liking but Katsuki Bakugo made sure that they knew what he wanted to say. He has never sought approval or cared about what anyone thought about.
This is something Y/N lacked.
He noticed it when she first arrived. She still had the traces of her father's cruelty towards her - the silence, the apologies, and the lack of spirit. It was difficult for him to even get mad at her for still being under her father's shadow when she didn't get the chance to build herself to begin with.
How can you fix a soul that has not been made yet?
"Have you seen anything you like?" They have been walking around the stores, wandering from place to place. Bakugo watched the healer quietly, seeing her glance at one item to another. She barely touched anything or barely let her gaze too long at one object.
Y/N's eyes wandered to a store just across them so naturally, Bakugo looked at it too. It was a dainty clothes shop, full of all those cute stuff that he has only seen from Hagakure.
"What?" Bakugo growled.
Her wide eyes turned towards him, "I..."
"Spit it out, loser." He wanted to see if she'll express her interest. His desire for that was much more than the dread he was feeling for potentially getting dragged in the store.
"Can we...look there?" The healer asked softly, "We didn't get to bring a lot of my clothes and...I like those."
Although Mr. Mamoru packed her the necessities, Bakugo could understand her desire to have something hers.
Finally.
A spark.
