Maskara didn't even flinch. His body warped and stretched like liquid shadow, the AP shots passing through him harmlessly. He reformed inches from Bakugo's face, his grin wide and feral.
"Little hero," he purred, "you think you can touch me?"
Before Bakugo can counter, the warehouse doors exploded. Syndicate members swarm the pier like roaches, quirked thugs with glowing blades, telekinetic debris hurlers, a speedster blurring between crates.
From the opposite side, the Pro Heroes finally move: Aizawa's scarf lashes out, erasing quirks in wide arcs; Present Mic's sonic waves shatter concrete; and a dozen provisionals from UA crash in from the rooftops.
"Too many!" Bakugo snarled over the comms, blasting a knife-wielding goon into the harbor. "Y/N! Get to Aizawa! Now!"
Maskara laughed, his form splitting into three shadowy duplicates, each lunging for her with elongated claws. The real one aimed for Bakugo, shadows coiling like living whips.
The heroes clashed in a storm of quirks and explosions, syndicate flames meet hero ice, telekinetic crates become missiles. Blood slicks the ground, Mamoru's body forgotten in the frenzy. Bakugo roars, detonating his gauntlet in a massive shockwave that levels a shipping container, buying seconds.
Y/N wanted to run but, she could see Maskara's quirk starting to hurt Bakugo. He was able to move like a shadow, and Y/N knew it would be about time before he actually lands a harsh blow.
She won't let him.
Her eyes narrowed in anger, this man killed Mr. Mamoru. This man imprisoned her. This man has betrayed her. This man made her life hell.
And when he managed to draw blood from Bakugo, she lost it.
Y/N screamed, her eyes flooding with both tears from her accumulated pain and anger, and pressed her hands on Maskara's face. She wanted to hurt him, to get her revenge for taking Mr. Mamoru's life.
She wanted to retaliate for Katsuki.
Maskara was about to laugh when he felt it. Searing pain. Skin Burning. Bone breaking. His yellowed eyes widened in fear as he looked at Y/N's rage. He couldn't understand. What was—
She was transferring all accumulated pain to him.
Maskara's scream is a wet, gurgling sound as his own flesh began to blacken and crack, mimicking the burns her classmates took, the internal hemorrhaging of a dozen broken ribs, and the pain of every wound Y/N ever healed for the him. His shadow-form flickered, destabilizing as his nervous system is overloaded with a decade of suffering.
Bakugo, reeling from a deep gash across his shoulder, froze. He's never seen her like this. She isn't the "damn healer" anymore; she's an avenging force of nature.
"Y/N! Stop!" he yelled, his voice cracking. He sees the toll it's taking, her own eyes are bleeding from the strain, her skin turning a sickly, translucent grey as she channeled the raw essence of pain. "You're gonna burn yourself out, idiot! Let go!"
He lunged forward, not at the villain, but at her. He grabs her wrists, his hands trembling as he tries to pry her away before the feedback loop kills her.
"That's enough! He's done!" Bakugo roared, his face inches from hers, his red eyes desperate. "Stop it, idiot!"
Maskara collapsed into a heap of charred, twitching meat, his quirk completely shattered by the trauma. The surrounding syndicate members falter, their leader broken by the very girl they treated as a battery.
Bakugo wasn't looking at anyone else now.
Y/N's vision turned black, body convulsing as the backlash hits. Every nerve screams, her skin splitting along old scars from overuse. She felt the world tilting, her quirk rebounding.
Bakugo caught her as she fell, his arms wrapped around her, "Idiot! Damn stubborn idiot!" he snarled, but he was panicking. He's covered in blood, hers, his, the villain's, but he doesn't care, blasting a clear path through the stunned syndicate members toward Aizawa.
"Get Recovery Girl! Sir! You have to—" he begged. Heroes swarm in, subduing the remaining thugs, but Bakugo ignored it all, sinking to his knees.
"Stay with me, Y/N," he muttered, forehead pressed to hers, breath ragged. "You did it. You won. Don't you dare leave now."
Sirens wail in the distance. The fight's over, but his war for her isn't.
